Title: E-bike touring
Post by: Crissa on September 17, 2020, 10:31:57 PM
Oh, hey, while reading the SR/S that went south to north in Europe, https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=10486.msg86976 there's also an article about another Liverwire rider in the suggested...

Isn't he the Diego who graciously showed us his black Livewire in February when we also got to see that not-ready-for-the-stree Lightning?  This one is red!

With e-bike trips in the news like The Long Way Up, https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=10466.msg95974#msg95974  it's expected, I suppose, but still cool.

Miriam's ride on the SR/S is pretty cool.  https://electrek.co/2020/09/17/electric-motorcycle-rider-covers-7000-km-to-arctic-europe/

Not that it's ever easy, touring on a motorcycle, but the kind of distances people are covering without resorting to bolt cutters, lockpicking, and slinging 100ft extension cords... on stock EV motorbikes? It is "almost too easy".

It's wonderful to read about Miriam's ride - that is a testament to increased refinement and choice of EV motorbikes on the market today. There's been limited choice in EV motorbike market for anybody who isn't at least my few-inches-more-than-average height and willing to take on the massive financial and temporal risk of being an early adopter. Touring on EV motorbike with 100mi legs and more than 1kW of charging capability? What sorcery is this! Few could dream of that 5 years ago (and fewer who would actually do it!)
