The AQI (Air Quality Index) here in Reno is now 228 "Very Unhealthy". It was 245 this morning. It didn't stop me from riding today, but perhaps it should have. The scale only goes up to 300.
Most weather websites such as Accuweather (https://www.accuweather.com/)gives the number. Who has the highest in CA? Or is it all blowing into NV?
Enter in your zip code and look at your AQI and report it here.

15 Parkersburg WV is what it put me to for the actual zip where I am.
Should not the contest be for the lowest number?
Fran
edit Maroon level is 301 and up.

I wonder how long it will take for the CA smoke to get to you! There certainly is enough of it to go around!

It was almost 600 in Portland yesterday.

Isn't that off the charts?
BTW, Reno is now down to 108. Auburn is now higher at 128.

I've seen numbers over 800 so I don't think there's a hard and fast limit anywhere near numbers we'd see before it's literally not breathable gasses.

168 here in Antioch as I post this.

It is 180 2.5 PM at my home and I see similar numbers all around the SF Bay Area. The worst I have ever experienced was a 500 2.5 PM in the Santa Cruz Mountains one Sunday when I visited Alice's Restaurant as the fires there were at their peak.

Did that give you any noticeable problems? I had no issues riding my Zero DS when the AQI was around 240 early yesterday.
Right now, it is down to an AQI of 140 here in Reno, but it looks just as bad as yesterday out my window here. I cannot see the normally very clear views from this 5K' elevation hilltop of the casinos and Mt. Rose. I can only see smoke, just as yesterday.

While I was riding in heavy fog along the coast I was feeling OK, but once I got above the fog into warmer, sort of sunny, weather, my eyes started burning and my throat felt dry. :(

It has made me want a helmet with one of these built in: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Professional-Paint-Respirator-7500-Series/

I think that's an incorrect link, but you probably mean something like like this. (https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Professional-Paint-Respirator-7500-Series/?N=5002385+3294427657&rt=rud)

AQI is now back up to 198 here in Reno, "very unhealthy". They expect 223 here tomorrow. That number reminds me of an AR-15 (cal=.223).

Stupid link worked when I tested it. Why have a readable url if everything is in the dumb code at the end?

I thought I was joking about the CA smoke getting to you.
But see here.

I just checked the AQI in Beijing, China.
Only 25!

Silicon Valley has been hovering around 150-200 for days, and finally today dropped below 100. I went for a run this evening in case it goes back up tomorrow.
Right now the Mammoth area is 600-700 thanks to the Creek Fire. I'd planned a camping trip near there this weekend, but that's not happening. Also, all of the national forests in California are closed.
The northern California coast is clear right now.

But most of the State Parks and Forests are also closed x-x

I sure picked a bad time for my backpacking trip. Two years in a row. Last year, I was buying my Energica in late August and fires with a lot of smoke came later. Next year, I think I will go in July!

Today's wind really cleared out the smoke from here in Reno. I wonder who got hit with it.
AQI in Reno is 41 right now. Sure a lot better than yesterday's 260.
I now see the casinos below me all lit up and as clear as ever.

Still smells like a camp fire here, but I can see blue sky and breathe the air without needing to use nasal spray.

I heard that the smoke blew east, over the East Coast and then on to Europe. Meanwhile, the BBC reports that Serbia is on fire and its permafrost is melting, releasing huge amounts of CO2. The world seems to be going to Hell in a hand-basket this year. :(

The AQI is down to 35 today here in Reno, so we can start breathing again!
