Finally my SS9+ arrived! It took 9,5weeks from order to delivery at the dealer (8-9 weeks predicted).

Due to thunderstorms, I took a rent van and picked it up from the dealer. Nice an shiny, a real beauty!
Today I took it out for the first ride. Some friends with Brammos and one Zero DS were riding along, so I couldn‘t really test ride it but I enjoyed a short ride with them as well.

Unfortunately, after only 60km during charging the weather changed and some rain was coming on. My personal nightmare (https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=10399.msg95080#msg95080)  ;D.
Since the clouds were getting darker, we waited it out, had some coffee and the dared to cross the bad weather since all of us left rainsuits at home (sunshine forcasted). The bikes took some 1,5hrs of heavy rain, the SS9+ hat to take only 20% of charge but due to the rain and no cars that wanted to charge I left it connected.

What I noticed:

• It came with 2,6bar on the front tyre. Since it „fell“ into each turn I pumped it up to 2,9bar - incredible what only .3 bar do!!
• charging in rain is of cause a nobrainer. It simply works, as expected.
• the left switchgear set on my bike isn‘t waterproof. After only a few kms in heavy rain the dash displayed the traction and went back to normal riding screen - without any pressing the control switch. Also, sometimes the profile screen came on. Weird. This show was over after some 30kms in dry weather. I guess it‘s a kind of a switchgear shortage.
• Suspension needs to be adjusted. I did not spend any time with setting the shocks yet, with my weight I will start adjusting the spring pre-tension. Damping was okay - well from what I can tell from the first 150kms.
• I was ordering the windscreen... well... it does not really deserve that name. I felt like there is no wind protection at all. Have to observe this, I‘m not at all decided yet about what to do here.
• I also got the rear splashguard. This literally saved my back today 8)
• to everyone that was hoping to still get carbon fibre front & rear mudguard - they are plastic now with a grained surface. Visually, a huge step back. But they work as expected. For the rear I wouldn‘t worry too much, but the front would be nice to have. It adds visual value to the bike.
• No sound consumption observations yet. For today’s total of 170km with 50% in rain or wet streets I got an average of 9,8kWh/100km. In areas with rolling hills and some dry twisties I observed only 6,5kWh/100km

Things to do:

• Install 12V power junction from behind the USB outlet for my Garmin Zumo.
• Set up the suspension to better suit me
• closely observe the left switchgear set of this was a one time confusion or if it‘s a serious shortage
• install a chain oiler. Scottoiler eSystem. 3.1 or else. Any suggestions are really welcome!!

Excuse me now. I need to go down, lift the cover and have to kiss her goodnight... ::)

I did not like the yellow at time of placing the order plus I’m a huge fan of blue. Since I really grew fond of yellow, today I guess I would choose yellow instead.

CF looks great when new and should be considered if aesthetics is important to you. However, the clear coat is 'soft" and scratches / marks easily, so if you intend to ride in mixed conditions where road grime can and will accumulate, the ABS (plastic) bits will likely fair better long-term, compared to CF.

More of a rationalization on my part to keep overall cost less than a LiveWire when the Ribelle was ordered.

Thanks for posting your observations, most, I think your bike looks awesome w/o CF.

Good choice :-)
Did the 12.000 km on my Esse today since 3/19 and I‘m still in love.

No issues with switch malfunction here, even in rain.
Keep an eye on.

Tire pressure is really important. I run 3 bar on Angel GT2 and monitor it with FOBO 2 Bike app.
Same with suspension preload. It‘s almost like a new bike with proper setings ;-)

Does anyone have an automated oiler assembled? Almost can‘t believe that I’m the only one with this plan...

This of course depends on your weight...
I'm 85 kg and have found for the rear shock 2-3 turns out on the preload adjuster (make sure you loosen the 2.5mm set screw first) softens the ride out nicely.

Please do and mention this to your dealer when you bring the bike in for your initial service.

Tires
A few tenths of a bar will really change the way the bike feels. Also underinflated front tires will cup as they wear.

Oiler
Not my cup of tea but Scotts makes a unit that is self powered. Little chain wax every couple hundred miles has always worked for me.

thanks for you’re comments! I placed an order at UA already, this is least intrusion in the harness for me and I still have USB availability.
Regarding Oiler systems - need to investigate the best place where to mount it &again this uses 12V power supply, so somehow I will have to lead cables to the mid or rear section of the bike. Nice work for a rainy weekend😎.
Currently I am in favor of the Mofessor from Berotech (https://berotec.de/product/chain-oiler/?lang=en) as it seems it is a nice small Package combined with good usability. I don’t like the bulky display from Scottoiler...

I did instal a cameleon oiler on my Eva, plugged on USB Charger cables.

works well for me, i do have to change my chain kit after 23k kms

To the oiler
I ordered the "headstock stand" from Energica.
In order to clean the chain, you can safely jack up the machine. This is just as important to me as oiling.

Congrats on your new beautiful bike! I agree with the Paddock stand. The studs alone are already highly advisable, not only for changing tire and chain maintenance, but also in the unlikely event of a fall they protect your swing arm.

As for the stand, I‘m not sure with the wording. Is the headstock stand for the front only, or is this a generic term for both front and rear? Paddock stand seems to be used for the rear, at least browsing the net make it appear so. When do you use what wording?
Anyway, got bobbins already for the rear swing arm (M8 Thread) plus a really decent motorcycle stand. So no issue to maintain the chain.
I simply WANT an automated oiler for the sake of convenience! Plus, you need to clean the chain on lesser occasions as the oil would do the job.

For the windshield, I am undecided yet if at all I want one. The next couple of 100kms will tell...

Can’t wait for the next occasion to ride... :)
