Substitute HM10 Bluetooth Serial app for iOS 13
« on: March 02, 2020, 08:58:32 AM »

My bike has been parked because of the cold weather but today was a nice day. When I got home I noticed the HM10 Bluetooth serial app that I had been using for the is no longer available. Has anyone found a good replacement app to adjust settings on the DigiNow?

I have installed LightBlue and BluetoothLE waiting to get the bike out from winterstorage so i can install the charger and test..
LightBlue looks like a good contender so far.

I do not understand how to use the serial apps to change any settings. I saw some discussion on here about the string that the diginows generate dictating the settings. Something like: XXX,XX,XX,XXX,XXX where one of the numbers- I forget which order they are in- is 1164 which translates to the diginows the target charge of 116.4v or 100% SoC. BUT the first app that seemed to work put these values out in a UTF-8 format (I think??) That first app was pulled from the store. Lightblue seems to put values out in a HEX format, which drastically changes the string. Do we need to find another serial emulator that uses the correct format or WHAT

What is the HM10 Bluetooth serial?
Do you care to elaborate?
Thx!

@motorrad36 if you don't get any good replies i can look into writing a guide once i get my setup up and running..
My bike is still in winter storage (and will be for a few more weeks) + i have to actually install the charger before i can do it..
I wrote a small excel setup to do string conversion.. Wouldn't be too hard to add HEX conversion to that output really.. Just need to know the exact format in which it needs to output it. :)

It communicates with the diginow via bluetooth. But the DN doesnt have an app that puts all the info in easy-to-read boxes, it just produces a string of numbers separated by commas. The serial emulator allows you to send a command to the DN via that same bluetooth connection, but it has to be in exactly the right format for the DN to understand what you are asking it to do. Its a super-basic terminal, almost command-line like windows cmd.exe

I was lucky in that I had purchased it before it disappeared from the App Store. Unfortunately, if it is gone you can’t re-download it even if you have already paid for it. I searched my backups and found a copy of the app in my backups stored on my computer. I was a let to re-install it onto my phone that way.

Not to be that guy but this is precisely why I got away from Apple. Jailbreaking to have full control was simply too much work. I suggest carrying a spare used android just for the bike--you can always install apps even after removal from the store (there are many sites that crawl and host repo's of different versions of apps as well).
