Anyone installed the new firmware update for SR/F already
« on: February 27, 2020, 03:17:59 PM »

Just got a pop-up around 9:30 today. Haven't installed it yet since I'm on location. Anyone did? Any issues?

I installed version 16 last week with no issues. Unfortunately Zero site https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/owner-resources/firmware/ doesn't list this version yet, so I don't know what is new. Would be nice if this site was updated at the same time as the firmware is released so we can decide if it is worth applying.

Yes indeed they update only later on. Previous update for instance, to v14 now has a change log with

Quote
Improved handling of charge latch on European bikes with mennekes port

I needed that fix because since v13 it required me to turn the bike on, off and on again to get the cable released. Took me some time to figure that out.

I applied this tonight. The main Battery Board went without a hitch and updated to 16, the Motorcycle Main Board took a couple of attempts (through the app) and now it updated. Both are on version 16. Got a whole bunch of error codes as various systems turned off and on, cleared all these out and it seems fine.

Haven't noticed anything to write about, other than the green running light flashes quickly when the dash display first loads when i'm sure it didn't with 14. It works as expected and i don't see any difference in operation yet.

Indeed just installed the update this morning and all I could see as a difference is that the "live" light flashes when turned on.

Found another new feature of this update  8) the range remains at 0 the whole trip. Curious if that 's a bug or will be fixed once charged.

I've just been out to look at mine and the range says 86. Admittedly i haven't ridden it, so it may drop to zero and stay there when i next ride it, but so far, it seems to have kept the range intact.

Also noticed in the app one of the 2 updates failed. That might also explain the range value missing. I'll update again tomorrow

So after 2 failed tries with the OTA, my android app waiting forever on "checking for updates" and 2 tries on my iPhone, I finally got Version 16 to install.  So my comments are as follows:
1. Zero, please fix this horrible update process.  Come on.  You have been doing customer installed updates for a while now.  Can't you get the process smoother?
2. Why eveytime I get an update to finally work do I have to go in and clear a bunch of errors.  This is not the way it should go.  During this update the CEL came on during the process and it had me scared being the last time I saw that light my bike died and needed to be trucked into dealer.  Luckily turning the bike off and on cleared that.
3.Zero.  You put a lot of work into making updates and keeping the bikes working like they should.  That is very appreciated.  Can't you spend 2 minutes and update your owner's site with a change log?  I would love to know what it is that the update is doing so I know if I need to rush through the painful process of updating it or can do it whenever I get the chance.  I mean how long does it take to do a change log?

Hopefully this process will get better but it is still better than having to go into the dealer to update it

Attempted twice today and both times failed.
The error code was 8 and it failed about 10/12 minutes after starting

So much room for improvement in this crappy process.
The sad part is, this OTA issues have been happening since the SRF came out and Zero has not fixed the problems.
Some Zero folks should be written up,  at the very least.

for me the second part keeps failing when I try it with the app. It states I have to turn off the bike for 3 minutes and try again. But I keep getting that same error.

Also I found out why the range was on 0. This morning it was working again. Until the CEL came on, then range switched to 0. So I think it's part of the new firmware but intentionally to set range to 0 during problems.

EDIT: When I clear all errors first the update still fails. Only difference then is that the first time I toggle the ignition key back on the "41 insulation error", the cause for my CEL to be on, just returns on the dash. So that could very well be the reason my update can't be completed.

After numerous tries the MBB updated to version 16 but like Hans' fails on the second part.
Now I  have a bike with one component current and one component behind.
Wonderful technology isn't it?

Random thing happened today, when i turned the bike on, the green light flashed and then the four-way flashers (hazards) lights started to flash. Turned them off and all was well. No error codes and it's not trying to tell me anything that i can see.

Hopefully it was a blip, not a firmware bug, because that'd get old fast having to turn them off everytime i turn the bike on.

That green light indicating that the bike is ready to ride flashing is a new feature of the firmware, that is normal. The hazard lights are not...
