SRF / SRS
« on: February 25, 2020, 05:38:28 AM »

In February 2020, is there a general sense of how long it now takes between the ordering, and the delivery of a 2020 SRF in California?
Same question for the SRS. Are they going to be delivering quickly? Or is the actual delivery planned for later on this year?

I guess that would be a question for your local Zero dealer.  I doubt any of us knows.  ???

It has varied wildly from month to month, talking with the San Jose BMW.  But the factory has been churning them out.

Problem is, even if I could ask the Zero people, I don't think they could officially say.  It sounds like they expect lead time to be about a month right now, but they are making enough that some dealers have them in stock.

Got it. I was just wondering what actual experiences were on the ground.
But I have sent a request to a dealer.

Here in Colorado, I ordered an SR/F early this month, and received it in under two weeks.  I presume it'll be quicker in California.

Thank you FredX. Exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.
It would therefore appear that the SRF, at least, is not in short supplies..

That's about how long it took me to get my brake parts and tank pad.

And I live in Santa Cruz ^-^

Ordered our SR/S demo yesterday and it already shipped today.  Should be here in a few days.  We went with the blue premium with a set of full cases.

Customer orders should ship real quick, much faster rollout than the SR/F launch.  SR/Fs have been shipping as fast as we order them.  Except for final bodywork and some bolt on differences, its the same bike underneath.

It looks like Zero learned their lesson from the SR/F launch. My local Zero dealer already as an SR/S Premium in stock. Kudos to Zero for ensuring deliveries in line with the new model announcement. If I didn’t have a new Ribelle on order I would be down at my dealer to pick up an SR/S.

What is it that you like better about the SR/S? The Ribelle has better range and better charging and those are usually the two biggies with electric bikes.

SR/S has different ergonomics and is a lighter bike, Don.  It probably has lower TCO as well.  (Tho as new bikes it's hard to know for sure.)

What Crissa said...I still like the idea of "zero" maintenance other than tires and brake pads/fluids. Don't get me wrong, I love my Energica and the new 21kw battery was a no brainer upgrade for me but if Energica hadn't released the larger battery I would definitely be adding the SR/S to my collection instead. I like the idea of an electric "sport-tourer" with hard luggage.

I think you will be able to get hard luggage for your new Ribelle as well, but you will probably have to wait a while.

I am not sure where I heard that, perhaps in this forum.

FWIW, I am happy with my soft luggage.

BTW, I modified  a granny cable so I can charge my Esse Esse 9  from a 240 VAC and 120 VAC outlet and easily fit it all in one side bag. I now have a very short (less than a foot) cable on the output side , I use an extension cord for the input, with either 120 or 240 VAC with an adapter I made.  It all fits in one bag, even NOT unzipped to be wider.  So now I can charge my SS9 on the road from just about anywhere. Even more ways to charge  than any Zero when on the road.

I can also charge from a  Tesla Destination charger using my Tesla-Tap so I have it all covered while on the road, with everything in one side bag.

I am surprised nobody has made a motorcycle granny cable yet. That means SMALL and light, not the big thing that came with our bikes. But we can easily modify our own, as I did.

You can see me charge my Esse Esse 9 from the 120 VAC outlet here at the Target store south of Carson City.

I modified the much larger longer cable that I used here in Genoa, NV on a 240 VAC outlet. That was a hassle to carry that thing. So I decided to see if I could make it MUCH shorter and lighter. I could, so I did.

And here I am charging from a Tesla station with my Tesla-Tap.

All this stuff fits in one soft saddlebag, NOT unzipped to be wider. So I still have some room for more stuff even on that side, if I need it.

Such a cable modification should also work for the Zero SR/F and Zero SR/S. I assume someday somebody will design this stuff for a motorcycle so we will not have to modify our own to use on the road.
