That's the same story I heard when getting my belt replaced. They claimed Zero sent them the wrong belt. Not sure if Zero has a problem shipping the right belts, or if the dealers order the wrong ones.

It was an expensive (in both $$ and time) lesson about proper belt usage. I'm now much more careful where I accelerate hard.  ;D
Since there was a belt size change in year 2017 on some Zeros and not others, I can see why such happens.  Shops that sell Zeros usually know little about what they are doing with the Zeros, IMO.  But  when I go to the shop to buy a part, I have the part number with me.  We  should be able to do  the same with the service department .  Give them the part number as we usually  have more time to look it up than they do, and we will be more careful.

IIRC, you can find the part numbers at AF1 Racing.

Yeah. I gave them the part number and still had that issue. Anybody can make a mistake, so I don't hold it against the dealer or zero. In that ordering process, both sides should probably do a bit more confirmation.

The parts guy originally blamed himself for ordering the wrong part, but when he brought the order up on the computer he did have the right part number for a 2018 S, so the screw up was on Zero's side not the dealer's in this case.

The correct belt is now installed.  I noticed this belt seems to have some kind of shiny "coating" on the outside surface.  I wonder if this is something new to prevent what happened to my old belt from happening again?

In the meantime, the parts guy says he still hasn't heard back from Zero as to whether or not they'll reimburse me on the new belt (and the labor) under warranty.  I'll keep everyone posted.

Glad your back on the road.
I wonder if the swing arm bracing tube could be used to mount a plastic belt guard top and bottom to keep junk out of the teeth.

Just to bring everyone up to date, I never heard anything back from Zero OR the dealer on this issue and now someone else has reported the same thing on this forum.
