Salvage and used parts, 2013+
« on: November 14, 2019, 05:50:13 AM »

This thread is for people who want to post or find used and salvage parts for Zero motorcycles, 2013+.  Others may ignore.

For example, this 2016 DSR, looks like a custom seat, listed as a 13.0, but missing battery and drivetrain AFAICT:

That’s my 2016 DSR, Tony. It clearly has the Corbin Concours 14 trunk.

I know who has the powertrain components for a project: motor, controller, MBB, and harness.

The battery smoked, and should have been disposed of.

This bike struck powerlines at highway speed and went end over end. The mag wheel spokes are destroyed.

I’m not sure what if anything is recoverable from that wreck. Good luck to anyone who tries. Personally I think it’s just scrap now.

Well, I guess I’ll scrape the images for posterity. I had only seen some earlier photos before when I accepted the insurance payout.

I guess the rear wheel and swing arm might be structurally acceptable. But I wouldn’t bet on it. The seat will need a full surface replacement.

The Hollywood Electrics fairing is in there but will need a lot of repair, I’m guessing.

That bike basically cartwheeled from what I heard. I got lifted off the bike by a cable in my mouth, and I’m still awaiting dental surgery.

just looking at that picture you can hardly find 1 good wheel and maybe a seat... not much more that could be reused. The good parts are gone already. But good idea to collect these in a thread!

Just... Damn man.  The wheel is the only thing that hints at what that pile of scrap used to be.

Amazing your still with us.  What a freak chain of events.

It is absolutely weird. I’m getting back to work but mostly from home and I’m still waiting on dental surgery to get new upper teeth, so I’m still on a liquid/soft diet.

I did pick up parts on EBay for a while. There was a 2015 DS that wasn’t in bad shape so I have a cable harness and parts to examine and compare. And earlier I picked up dealer tooling.

Zero parts don’t get sold too quickly, typically. And occasionally the seller misidentifies and overprices the components (more than the dealer price). So it’s both easy and occasionally frustrating.

No, I had the Happy Trails SU rack, which I'd been using to support various tail fairings from time to time.

I should have noticed the blue seat and the covered spokes

It's understandable. It just caught me off-guard.

RIP to that bike ("Finn" in my garage). It was an awesome daily rider, a competent tourer despite all the work I had to do to assemble a charging system up to the task, and very good at dealing with my fairing experiments. I'm still intending to get an FST (SR/F-like) bike but that'll be in the spring or something.
