Although I'm very happy with my EsseEsse9, I admit I'll probably take the trade-in hit to move to one of the new bikes. A 60% bump in range is just too enticing for me to personally pass up.

I'll probably go all in this time and get the Ribelle with all the bells and whistles (except flyscreen and side cases). The extended range has me seriously considering selling off my gas bike since I no longer tour on it and 100+ freeway miles is plenty for me to commute and joy ride on.

Anxiously waiting for US pricing and availability.

Yes I definitely am planning on upgrading. Currently have a Eva 107 and the range increase is too big to ignore.

You're trading the tall bars of the EsseEsse9 for the Ribelle which looks to be the Eva 107 ergos?

Is the larger battery supposed to be compatible with the earlier models?

Or is trading up  the only reasonable way to do it?

Yeah...I'll probably go with the less comfortable Ribelle...mainly for the increased power. I'm a bit of a power junkie. I'll probably look at bar and footpeg options afterwards, the same route I was going to originally go (Eva107 modified to fit me better) before I settled on the EsseEsse9.

From what I've been told, no upgrade option will be offered due to the cost of both the components (battery, wiring harness, and VCU) and the labor to do the upgrade.

They may sell the components individually but my guess is any kind of self-install will void the warranty...just my thoughts, nothing anyone said.

I am not at all a power junkie.  I ride like a little old lady most of the time, with just a few rare exceptions.

The SS9 works well for me as is, so the larger range battery is  not that big of a deal to me. I mainly use the SS9 to go from Reno to Auburn, Needs one fast charge near the middle to make it. But with the new larger battery, it should  make it all the way with only home charging.   But I can live with my one required charging stop. I would not trade my SS9 for a bike I find less comfy.

Incorrect. All models will be offered with the new battery.

I would of course like the bigger range for my trips outside commuting, but to be fair, I do not have the funds right now  to bridge the gap on both normal depreciation and the price drop of the regular SS9.

I just bought my Ego a month ago at a significant discount since it's a 2018 model. I mostly only commute to work when I ride my bike, and it's 16 miles round trip so the added range would only be noticed on a weekend thing. On my pleasure riding sessions, I'll plan them around DCFC stations for now, and hope that the infrastructure in the North GA area improves in time.

I don't see myself upgrading until at least the Ego+ gets a discount for being replaced by a newer year model.

Thanks for the tip Demoni! Looks like I have my path forward!

Since my use case has me close to the edge of freeway range without running the bike from 100% to 0% every trip, the added range means I can commute on the freeway and only need to charge when I get back home. Right now, I chew up about 70%+ on the freeway each way requiring me to charge up at work (free) and at home unless I take all surface streets, then I can make it to work and back home on about 90%+ battery usage (but then I add on about an extra 30 minutes each way).

Oh if it were me it would surely be the other way around.  Charge for free at work and just let it rest at home.   

Sklith, hows the Ego going in north GA?  On the south side DC charging is (almost) Nissan or nothing.

It could be better up here but there's ways to get around for sure: I can drive up to Chattanooga, TN or Ellijay, GA. I plan on riding up to Ellijay to do some mountain carving once it warms up.
Last time I used a DCFC station, it was a free Greenlots one in Marietta but it's no longer showing on Plugshare, I hope that's just a mistake. Would suck to lose one of my free charging spots.

It's great that these 'slow' DCFC (50 kW or less) stations car EV owners are more than fast enough for us Energia owners, makes it less likely to see cars plugged into them.

In August I was about to buy a demo 2019 SS9 but then broke my right lower leg (not motorcycle related  ) which ended the riding season for me for this year. This might be the only positive thing about my accident, cause I'lll definitely try to get a SS9+ next year (or whenever they will reach Austria).
