2016 DSR front J.Juan caliper rebuild kit info request.
« on: November 03, 2019, 08:09:07 AM »

The caliaper on the front is increasingly dragging so time to tear down & see what's going on.
Is there a kit available for these?
If so where can it be obtained?
Have about 38k (miles) on it now.

TIA.

It has been my observation that no brake caliper manufacturers have offered rebuild parts for many years.  I get the feeling that is because of their perceived product liability exposure.  If a rider can't stop in time and crashes due to a rebuild that the manufacturer had no control over their liability exposure can be substantial, even when someone else did the work.  Now all you can buy is the entire caliper from the brake component manufacturer. Lawyers, judges, juries and the $$$ legal system are just trying to make you safe, or haven't you noticed.   ::)

Manufacturers need to provide at least piston seals and master cylinder rebuild kits. Actually, NOT providing them is a bigger liability because people need to be able to maintain their equipment and not be incentivized against that. In all my bikes, the Zero is the only one where I needed a small replacement part and could NOT get it from anywhere including my dealer. BAD.

I was reading a Road Racing World (?) magazine recently while having wheels rotated on my EV and saw a kit (?) to change your
Kawasaki caliper components to convert to race. These appeared to be internal components so may work on Zero. Didn't pay a lot
of attention but seemed to be a different offering than I had seen before
