Seems like a nice curve of bikes, so there's a choice if price, speed, weight are your top concerns.

Well for someone wanting to ride only off road a Sur-ron is nearly $4k cheaper, nearly 60 pounds lighter, and tops out at only 10mph less than the INK. Still fast enough for what most people will want to do off road but for those that do want to go even faster some of that money saved can be used to upgrade the Sur-ron. Speaking of upgrades there are plenty of aftermarket options for the Sur-ron, motors, controllers, batteries, wheels, suspension. With a Cake your only option really is to pony up the extra $4k for the Ohlins.

Sur-Ron is the value leader for the dirt, there's a good reason it's so popular. But I think it's a false equivalency to just compare their top speeds. Cake is going to have better components all the way around compared to that chinese bike. By the time you've upgraded everything on the Sur-Ron to match the Cake, you'll be pretty close to it in price. Start with 3-4k for the base bike, add a $1000 BAC controller, replace the battery for $1000-2000, replace the suspension, tires, etc. The cake makes more sense for people who just want to buy the bike and be done. It's niche as hell, but again I think its pricing makes sense for its niche. They've only been available in the US for a short time, but I'd be surprised if they've sold more than 100 units in the states so far.

The INK suspension is mediocre, the Sur-ron stock will perform better off road. You also don't need to upgrade the battery, BrunoPoweeer says it's good for at least 10kW and he's had 68mph out of one and said it had more to give.

I get why the Cake costs so much, it's a very well made bike (at least it looks it) made in small numbers in Sweden. It's like a mechanic watch, mechanically impressive but the performance isn't there and it can be beaten by a cheaper quartz watch. And just like a mechanical watch I see the appeal of it, it's nice to look at, to be seen on, and I imagine that anyone that owns one feels pretty damn cool when they're riding it. However if that doesn't interest you all that much and you care more about performance then it's hard to justify the extra cost for something that is objectively worse at what it's designed for.

Yes, if you want performance or looks, the Cake bikes definitely have it.  Eventually, they'll probably have better support than Sur-ron, which is why neither were in my to-buy list.

Once again, compare the Kuberg Ranger specs in components, weight, power (esp. power/weight ratio) and cost. IMO it comes out on top.

I hadn't seen the Ranger before. It's really interesting. The pneumatic seat, small rear wheel, and floorboards make it truly unique.

I definitely thinks it beats the cake in terms of value, but I don't think it'll sway many sur-ron riders since its base price is nearly double the sur-ron's cost. Looks like the one dealer they have in the US is currently sold out of everything except for the most expensive configuration which puts it in the same price range as the INK.

Comparing the two at that similar price, to me it's kind of a toss up depending on personal preference. Battery is pretty close 2.3kwh vs 2.6. Cakes is slightly bigger.
Top speed cake claims 56 ranger claims 50. Cake is 9.5k, Ranger is 8.8k.  Ranger does call their bike "14kw" while cake claims 11kw, but we don't know enough to figure how that translates to the real world. How long does each bike sustain their peak kw output? What is their max continuous kw output?

Seems to me you get marginally better performance from the Cake for $700 more, or lighter weight and a very unique ride from the Ranger. I think it's going to take a very particular kind of rider to be really sold on the hybrid scooter/dirtbike concept, but as stated the cake is already niche as heck.

Big upside is that Kuberg actually has a dealership in California, Cake seemingly has no US distributors and will just ship you a bike with no local support.
