SR/F official accessories
« on: September 01, 2019, 02:14:08 PM »

Any news about the accessories for the SR/F? I miss a carrier, side panniers and a windshield.

I got a top case rack.  Looks good and pretty solid.  Have my Givi top box (from my DSR) on it now.

May you give some url to point on this rack? Is this an accessory dedicated to the SR/F or did you have to adapt by yourself?

I was told by Randy at Randy’s Cycle that they have a meeting with Zero next week about accessories.

This is the wrong picture, but it is made for the bike.  It comes with a replacement turn-signal holder (goes under the seat) that anchors the back of the rack.  You have to remove the two silver metal pieces below the seat (the rack replaces them).

Here's my original post on it.  https://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=9285.msg81245#msg81245

FWIW, picked up an SR/F recently and the factory rack is very solid. And expensive, because, after all, it's made from unicorns, like most Zero stuff.
Looking forward to more options.

PS: the SR/F truly is a quantum leap forward. Except for the crotch rocket wanna be foot pegs. Not getting that.

Thanks a lot for the information about the rack kit. No info on mounting hardware for side boxes?

They also sell a side rack kit for the SR/F. Check the description.

Maybe it's not quite for sale yet though, since I can't find the part number mentioned

@vinceherman or @stevenh can someone give me a picture of how the lower section that replaced the indicator bracket is mounted? Not sure if it should come with a spacer or if I just have it mounted all wrong.

I don't recall a spacer, but the 4 bolts (existing) under the seat were too long (at least two of them were).  I had the same thread pattern in shorter hex bolts on hand and used those.  The tail section was fine (lined up pretty well and the old screws worked OK).

Indeed had some other bolts and spring washers for the top connection under the seat.

I think I figured it out. After losening up all parts I could make it all fit with the original bolts underneath. It's close to the plastics but seems fine that way.

I also made a simple bracket on the indicator mounting lugs to have my license plate mounted there. That way I could remove the complete rear fender /bracket assembly.

From my FB post:
This is the rack for the SR/F provided by zero. There were no instructions but even for someone like me with ‘so-so’ mechanical skills, it was super easy.
Here is a (from memory) list of steps.
Just a note that I had already purchased a set of low-profile zip ties that are very similar to the ones that Zero uses on their handle bars. I used 1 zip tie to replace the one I clipped on the wire harness for the rear turn signals.
The rack comes with 2 pieces, 2 bolts and some weather stripping. The big piece is the rack itself. It replaces the stock passenger grab bars. The smaller piece is a combination stabilizer/turn signal bracket and replaces the stock rear turn signal bracket.
Remove the passenger seat (tools needed Zero key)
Remove the passenger grab bars (tools needed T30)
Remove the rider seat (tools needed T30)
Remove the storage tray (tools needed T25)
Clip the zip tie on the wiring harness for the rear turn signals (tools needed diagonal pliers)
Look at the 4 single wire plugs for the rear turn signals. You will be unplugging them and you want to plug them back in the same way. I did one turn signal at a time so I had little opportunity to mess things up. You might be braver and unplug both and simply pay attention to wire colors when re-plugging later.
Loosen rear turn signals (tools needed 17mm box end wrench). I did not do this until after I removed the bracket. It was difficult to break the nut loose trying to hold the bracket in my hand.
Remove turn signal bracket and plastic cover (tools needed T25) and lay it on the rear tire.
Put the new stabilizer/bracket on the rear tire next to the stock bracket and ensure proper orientation.
Unplug the left rear turn signal.
Remove the left rear turn signal from the stock bracket.
Install the left turn signal on the new stabilizer/bracket (tools needed 17mm box end wrench)
Snake the wires back up and plug back in to the harness.
Repeat for the right rear turn signal.
At this point, you probably want to test fit the new stabilizer/bracket. I suspect that this is where the weather strip needs to go. I did not install it but I think I need to drop the stabilizer/bracket again and put the weather strip in place. The gap appears bigger than with the stock bracket and this is right where water will spray up from the rear tire.
Install the stabilizer/bracket and plastic cover (tools needed T25). Leave the 2 T25 bolts loose so that you can align things after the rack is in place.
Power up the bike and test the turn signals and brakes for proper operation. Power back down.
Tidy up the wires and zip tie them back together.
Reinstall the storage tray (tools needed T25)
Install the rack (tools needed T30)
Install the 2 bolts from the rack kit that hold the stabilizer/bracket to the rack (tools needed T30?)
Snug up the stabilizer/bracket bolts that you left loose earlier.
Reinstall the rider seat (tools needed T30)
Reinstall the passenger seat.
