Well I finally picked up my new bike today along with rain and a potential Hurricane. Got to drive it home. Really happy with the way it runs and rides. I think once I figure it out, I will really enjoy it. But first a couple of newby questions.
1. Does a paper owners manual come with the bike? The dealer says online only but that is sure a problem when you accidentally turn on the heated grips in 95 degree weather and you don't know how you did it. Sure would be nice to have something to look at on the side of the road while your hands are cooling off.
2. I cannot get the app to connect to the bike. I go through the setup procedure, the Bluetooth on the phone is active but nothing happens. The app defaults to "Demo" mode and when you toggle it to non-demo, nothing happens. The phone isn't being discovered in the app and nothing is showing up in the phone that it is trying to connect to anything.
3. When you move the bike, the motor (or something near the motor)will make a sound sort of like a pedestrian warning sound on an EV for about 30 seconds and then stop. Is this normal?
4. Even though the bike is in an air conditioned garage at 75 degrees for the past 6 hours, the battery temp indicator is near the upper level mark. The motor temp is at the low end of the scale. Is this something I should be concerned about? The bike made the trip from the dealer with no problems but I don't know why the temp is high.
Other than those things, the bike is really nicely built with great fits and finishes--the exception being the lid on the tank box. Only one minor issue, the belt guard was almost rubbing on the belt and required a couple shims to move it into a better position away from the belt. While looking at the belt, I was really surprised at how easy it would be to change the belt. I looks like it can be changed by simply loosening the axle nut and working the belt off around the rear mudguard. I was having nightmares thinking about having to remove the swingarm or taking the frame apart on the side of the road if a belt broke. Good design Zero. Another interesting thing was a tag on the bottom of the power pack that was visible after removing the lower scoop. It had the Zero S/N and the Zero P/N for the pack printed on it along with a label that said "NOMINAL 13081 Wh" To come up with an odd number like that, I wonder if Zero is capacity testing each pack and listing the original capacity for reference. Maybe all of the packs are the same number but you think they would round it off to something even like 13 KWh.
I might get some riding in tomorrow morning and maybe Friday but the riding chances in Florida are looking dismal for the Labor day weekend.
