Curtiss Zeus Radial V8
« on: July 22, 2019, 07:35:09 PM »

Here is another odd electric motorcycle design from Curtiss. At least this one provides power train specifications and has other design features other than a phallus. On the other hand they seem to have found a name and a general design that provides a connection to old American automobiles, which some might see a a little strange. Not a peep about price, though:

Actually, the price is at the bottom (75K).

Last line says $75k.  It's different I'll give it that.

Seems like the Zeus concept a year or so ago looked different... and the Hera seems to be gone from their website.  I had thought Curtiss had both of those bikes at the Drive Electric Week Meetup in Birmingham in '17 or '18... can't remember which one it was.

The Zeus clearly takes its design inspiration from Glenn Curtiss' original V8 land speed bike.  However, I am seriously hoping Curtiss rethinks the Hades and that what they have on their website is a computer rendering.  I'd hate to think they actually spent money on BUILDING that giant dildo on two wheels!!

It seems kind of odd that both the electric Phallus and the Radial V8 would have exactly the same price.  Kind of makes me wonder if both of those models consist more of dreams and less of component and assembly prices.   ::)

I looked at it and I saw the battery pack as a 45ACP bullet aka death.
Dr Freud thinks it's interesting that you saw what you did.   ;D   joking of course

Clearly both bikes are just digital renderings. Both are godawful stylistic abortions. They don't deserve what little press coverage they get.

Awful, just awful :o
The "what were they thinking" applies here for sure.
For shooting a movie happening in the distant future, these would be perfect but certainly not for taking a ride in the city.

At least this one doesn't look like it's happy to see you.

Instead it looks like an Elon Musk COPV thing (compressed air thrusters).

I wonder if there is an optional "raincoat" for the Hades that you could carry in your wallet to roll over the motor and electronics in case of inclement weather.   :)

I  completely don't get the point of high-power drivetrains on bikes with zero wind protection let alone aerodynamic fairings; these bikes are essentially unrideable comfort-wise for long distances or at speed. I can't see any person who actually rides a bike on a daily basis designing anything like this.

To a large extent I also don't get the entire current powerful naked-bike trend for the same reason, but at least such bikes from the mainstream ICE manufacturers don't cost $75K.

It's a total poser bike.
It will have advanced tech, however: A rain sensor, which on sensing the first drop of rain will automatically call a speedy helicopter-based enclosed-transport service which will carry you & the bike to the next poser café. An awning will be provided as well so people there can take selfies with the rider & bike without getting wet.  ;D

The more I think about it, the more the styling of the Hades makes sense.  I mean, you can't install a loud pipe to compensate for a particular shortcoming, so...

Doubt it. Rain protection will be provided by a shield fed by the energy from all the stars in our galaxy.
