Simple SR/F charging question, 3 vs 6kW

Simple question:

If you plug the standard (3kW) and premium (6kW) into a home 110V outlet using the provided connector, will the premium charge faster? The guy at Zero told me the premium would charge at 3 and the standard at 1.4 I think, but I’ve read a few threads here that seem to contradict this. Anyone know?

Most 120 outlets support 15 amps max, so the charger will be capped below that on 120. You would need 240v to charge at the higher rates. The voltages at the wall are close to those numbers nowadays.

As the other guy indicated the short answer is no. The wall is the cap in this case, not the chargers.

You need 30A dryer type outlet (240v) to drive 6kW charger.

Boy, I hope it's not true that there's a dealer/salesman that's misleading people like that. That's just unforgiveably wrong if someone really said that.

What I heard/inferred at the SR/F presentation in San Jose was that Zero's own 110V adapter has built-in control pilot signaling to limit the bike to drawing 15A regardless of how many charging units were installed. I look forward to more detailed confirmable information.

Not that the dealer wouldn't lie but it's more likely they just don't understand to begin with.

This wasn’t the dealer...I called Zero and they called me back. I asked them if the charging wire fit in the storage area (it does) and what the difference would be between premium and standard on a 110V wall outlet. He said premium would charge twice as fast.

Not sure what to make of that...

My FX charges at 650W. I suppose it is conceivable that a Standard SR/F could be limited to the same when on 120V, and a Premium having two identical units could therefore charge at 1300W. Pure speculation on my part.

But one thing I'm sure of is that it's a communication issue.... no lying dealers and no misinformation from Zero.
