Funny how they have Zero "challenging" Harley, when Zero's been in the space over a decade and Harley's still just talking about it.

Other than that, it's surprisingly correct and informative for a Faux News article.

Well, you know, they try to bolster their credibility on some things so people will take their propaganda as factual.

Can the technical data and the price really be taken seriously?
Zero can't possibly earn money with the SR/F with the combination.

It seems to me that Harley's trying to enter the market space from the top, whereas Zero is using this as an opportunity to expand their product offering upwards into the "premium" market.

Which seems like a great move by Zero, a horrible one for Harley.

Does anyone else think its a wasted opportunity to not include a fairing? I personally like the look of sports fairing for design, but I'm assuming the battery will be bigger, why not get even more range with a fairing.

And why not sell toothpaste with a model that has a great personality? Because that doesn't sell toothpaste.

Doug that's funny.

David I do agree with you though and I wonder at this point what the real issue might be.

Do they think the battery needs the open air flow for cooling?
Is it the fact that marketing shows a drop in sport bike sales and an increase in naked and DS sales industry wide?

I would like to see some mounting points on the frame as an option for after market but we'll see.

Faired bikes are selling less than naked and ds, Zero needs every sale possible so going after a shrinking market with a flagship bike makes zero sense.

And I don't think the opportunity is wasted. This is a new platform flagship. Go for naked, it's popular.

Then for 2020 models they can expand that platform to both update the existing ds and s lines and introduce a proper supersport. This is just one bike. 1

I have always suspected that Zero likely doesn't want to spend the money to design, test and manufacture a fairing.  Like caza says, faired motorcycles are not a hot seller right now. While long-distance riders would likely appreciate such a fairing, I don't think that is market that Zero is aiming for.  Right now I think their goal is to produce useful commuter, naked, and ADV motorcycles.  They watch every penny at the company and likely believe that the cost of a new fairing, and needing to raise the price according, just would not "pencil out" for what would likely be a small number of sales. "Street Fighters" are a relatively hot item right now and that is what I believe Zero is marketing with the SR/F.

Hollywood Electrics already took the time and investment to make a decent frame-mounted fairing for the bigger Zeros (meaning those NOT built on the FX platform).  All Zero would have to do is license them from Harlan and his people and resell them.  Win-win for BOTH companies.

A fairing for me is the bike is completely in 'plastic' (very low wind resistance. Don't think HE offers this or I missed something.

Your legs are still in the open, but easy enough to tuck into the bike and out of the majority of the airflow.  The HE fairing takes care of your upper body where the majority of the wind resistance is created.  Both Electric Terry and Brian T. Rice have posted plenty of photos of Zeros equipped with the HE fairing.  Think "BMW RS" rather than GoldWing:

Does anyone know if San Jose BMW is planning to hold any special event for the Feb. 25 unveiling? There is nothing on their calendar or newsletter at the moment. But if so, we should organize a group meetup for that.
