Hi all.

I picked up an SS9 last weekend from Moto Club Santa Monica (awesome shop). So far my impressions range from happy to astonished. Thanks for your forum contributions so far - They helped a lot.

My first and only electric bike was a Zero FXS that I put about 10k miles on in a year. Very different bikes so I won't compare.

Only put a few hundred miles on the SS9 so far, but had it in the Santa Monica canyons including the snake a few times. It handles like a dream. Every deliberate action you take, the bike responds. Acceleration, regen, cornering, braking, are all super smooth and predictable. As one reviewer said, the bike is just planted. And the engine sound is a head turner.

Trying not to repeat others - Only a few things to note so far are:

- I wish it had more torque off the line. Torque is addictive and what is so fun about electric - Give us more! You feel more torque from the FXS off the line - I loved doing wheelies on it. Given the weight of the SS9 I would never even want to attempt that, but I do feel there's room for more.
- I charge from a regular socket at my work garage - Having the regular power cord was a nice convenience with the Zero, but I would not trade that for the Energica charging options, of course.
- I was expecting the heft to make lane splitting a lot more difficult, but it has been fine so far.
- Suspension is wound up really tight from factory, but that's adjustable.
- I am getting almost double the range of the 2017 FXS (modular dual battery). I have a standard urban commute.
- A lot of thought went into this bike - It shows on the outside, but I keep learning more every day about the inside too. An example - the charger locks into the bike. I had my Zero power cable stollen multiple times from my work garage and although cheap to replace, the Uber rides home were not...
- The company has been amazing. The help I've received from the dealership (Victor) and the North American operations (Stefan, Jim) have been remarkable.

I hope Energica follows the Tesla model, providing updates to current owners. So far, they strike me as the kind of company that will.

What kind of low life steals a charging cord?

Only happened three times over a year in a public garage, but low life indeed. It just sucked stressing about it while at work, not knowing if I'd be riding home each night. Even with my Volt I've had the charger removed multiple times by people while parked at the airport. Surprised a locking mechanism isn't more common - Just glad Energica provides it.
