Now I guess any US dealer can order them if they commit to sending a tech to school for basic maintenance. I bought mine there (Long Beach) and had it shipped to Seattle. As far as I know I have the only one in the state.

But yes, C Evo is a common abbreviation for the C Evolution Electric Scooter.  It's fighting a little bit of an uphill battle here because it's a scooter in addition to being an EV. I don't see it as a direct competitor to Zero because of that fact but the performance is similar in many respects and they have some advanced electronics (Traction Control and Level 2 Charging).  It's pretty popular in Europe and there is a months long wait time in France for some reason.

My BMW dealer, located in Silicon Valley, has been selling the C-Evolution for about two years, with apparently little success.  This is in spite of the scooter being the premium longer-range version. It was originally selling for around $14,500.  Last year they raised the price to something like $15,300.  But (unless I am mistaken) that is still a lot less than that model sells for in the EU.

My observation is that small, cheap, motor scooters sell well in urban areas here to young people who can't afford to buy a car, but the large maxi-scooters just don't make much of a dent in the U.S. market.

I have to agree with you - even the ICE maxi-scooters do not sell as well here (in the US) as one would think. I for one love motorcycling and would rather go somewhere on a bike than a car, weather permitting (and this parameter has a wide range of interpretation).  I was already a motorcycle commuter when I tried my first maxi-scooter. It had to be able to keep up with the freeway traffic and carry some stuff to work and store my riding gear when I got there. A scooter provides all the good things a motorcycle does and very little of the bad (engine heat and manual transmission). Switching to an EV then considerably reduced the operating expense. It's a no-brainer IF you are able to commute much of the year and the range/recharging opportunity fits the performance envelope.

How long have you had the C-Evolution now? Any issues? I am also considering buying one, and I'm in Salt Lake City. I'm pretty sure it would be the only one in the state if I went forward. I actually emailed BMW Motorrad and asked how warranty service would work since there isn't a "qualified" dealer in Utah. They got back to me, said to wait while they researched it, and then said it would have to be serviced at a qualified dealer, the closest of which is in Albuquerque. Sandia BMW there is a dealer. Which ain't exactly close. Anyway, I'm on the fence about buying it now. I've watched all the review vids I can find and was excited about it, but the prospect of servicing it puts me off a bit. And I'm a mechanical engineer with no fear about wrenching on my own bikes. I may take the plunge anyway. So...any troubles with yours? You'd buy it again if given the choice?

Their service manager said he'd have no problem servicing, say, the brakes, but powertrain work would have to be done elsewhere. The idea of shipping it to Albuquerque (or California) if I have issues is kinda offputting.

I would think if they are a authorized BMW dealer, whey would have to be trained on all newer BMWs.

I take it they do NOT sell the E-scooter there . . .perhaps that lets them off the hook.

The C-Evolution powertrain (as discussed) is sourced from the i3 car, and a BMW auto dealership may be better positioned to handle that.

Sales of the BMW C-Evolution scooter are apparently remaining rather slow in the U.S.  I visited my BMW dealer today and one of the staff told me that he thought they had only sold a couple units last year.    He also admitted that he hadn't even test ridden a C-Evolution yet, even though they have been selling them at the shop for a couple of years.

That's right.  Where else would you try to sell electric motorcycles and scooters, but in the middle of Silicon Valley?  I bet it seemed like a good idea at the time.    Unfortunately the people there are more interested in buying Teslas than in owning anything electric with two wheels.

I pulled the trigger on a 2017 demo C Evolution! It arrived last night late, shipped from LA, and I took it for a spin to get groceries today. Easy to ride, and pulls hard from the stoplight. I plan on riding in to work on the freeway tomorrow to see how it gets along, and what my range is like. Work is about 12 miles away.

I plan on riding in to work on the freeway tomorrow to see how it gets along, and what my range is like. Work is about 12 miles away.

The C-Evolution scooter should be perfect for commuting.  My only complaint is that it is kind of heavy.  Should be reliable, though.

Keep us informed how you are getting along with your new scooter. I hope you got a good deal on that 2-year old demo.
