I am so on this. Maybe even this weekend.
I've completed the PCH route for SF-LA once in late 2016 before I mounted my dustbin fairing, and it was quite difficult but I obtained 120 miles range on my 13kWh DSR using judicious windscreen tuning and speed management and estimated range monitoring.
That wasn't entirely necessary, but it helps a lot for the stretch where only Tesla Destination / hotel chargers are available where I didn't want to spend time persuading anyone to let me charge. It mattered that it was very foggy and cold and visibility was dropping drastically. I still remember the moon rising through the fog inland through a deep ravine between hills in the early evening - it was really fantastic-looking, but my phone camera did not do it justice, and my hands were struggling against the cold wet air, so I kept moving.
And then the rainy season took out those bridges, so I haven't been able to repeat or iterate on that.
So, now I have a Hollywood Electrics fairing and a Power Tank for 16.3kWh (~15 nominal), and can head down there with more confidence.
I may have a new better dustbin, soon, and may even have a tail before the end of the year. Big Sur is certainly a nice place to ride a quiet motorcycle.
