Does anyone have an idea of when Zero offers incentives on its 2018 models prior to releasing the 2019s?  My 2016 S was recently destroyed by an inattentive MORON, and it'll be a couple of months before I can even think about getting back on a motorcycle so I have some time.  Naturally, collision coverage didn't pay NEARLY enough to buy a NEW replacement bike, so any savings I can find I'll take. 

Since I had a warranty issue shortly before my warranty expired covering a motor replacement, I'd rather NOT buy a used bike that doesn't have any kind of a warranty.  Thanks,

In past years demo bikes get price reduction in August.

I believe Zero's warranty transfer form is meant to at least confer the buyer with the remaining time:

But yes, given your experience, waiting on a demo bike seems like a good strategy.

One other little fun fact speaking of demos and warranties.  The two year coverage starts on the day they ship it out to the dealer not when you buy it.  So you'll have about 15 months full coverage.

For my case, I have been able to get a ~ 2000Eur (~2500$) rebate on a S 2017 (brand new) in January 2018. It seems the 2018 models appeared around that time in Europe and they then finish of the European stock I believe.

So no idea if it traditionally the same in US, but i believe this price drop was available more or less through all Europe.

Zero released their Limited Edition DSR with a reduced price and additional accessories thrown in during the month of February 2018 in order to move their remaining 2017 models, so it seems like that would be a good time to negotiate a good price on a previous year model.

Well, I see Zero is offering up to $2,000 off demonstrator models.  Except... their warranty began when the bike initially arrived at the dealership, not when I purchase the bike.  I also have a PRETTY good idea of how people treat demo bikes.  Think I'll pass on this and see what's next.  I have nothing but time on my hands...

I can get free top case and mounting bracket now on the small bike. A Givi monolock (a monokey would have piqued my interest more).

I was looking at this bike couple of months ago with intent to purchase, but the price is too high, and with the stupid tax war started by the US, it looks to stay that way, so I'll probably end up with a Chinese bike. But we'll see, I'll keep my current bike for at least one more year, and things may have changed then.

Speaking of Chinese motorcycles: I heard recently that they were on the list of items prepared by our illustrious leader that would be hit with big new tariffs when they enter the U.S. Considering how many Chinese motorcycles are sold here, compared with elsewhere, I don't think that particular tariff threat is going to have the Chinese shaking in their boots.

Can you elaborate on how you think a demo zero might have been abused to the point of damage to the motorcycle?
I could imagine that full throttle starts and hard stops are pretty common, but beyond perhaps needing to replace the drive belt and the brake pads (and possibly discs) sooner than normal, are they so bad?
For an ICE bike, yeah, I wouldn't want to touch a demo with a 10-foot pole. I could imagine that idiots messing with the clutch and revving the engine hard while trying to wheelie or whatever before the engine has even been broken in would absolutely murder it. But none of those apply to an electric bike, so what am I missing?

Anything with moving parts can get excessive wear from abusive use.  If the warranty were for two years after I BOUGHT it, that would be one thing... but the warranty on a demo bike could conceivably be half over by the time I got it home.  Not a chance I'm willing to take.

Demo rides sometimes result in lowsides because someone blips the throttle turning from a stop.

Allmost all my bikes where 2nd hand and I'm not technical.
Most things you can feel with a good test ride.

With an EV things get better 2nd hand, not a lot of moving parts.

But back on topic.
There probably won't be any old models with 0-25km being offered.
Because most Zero dealers only get bikes to be a demo and only have new bikes they allready sold.

A FWIW: Zero recently announced up to 2k off demos. My local dealer tells me that Zero took 2.3k off a 2018 demo about 6 m old, plus a dealer incentive.
Buying an electric is never truly a good deal, at least in the US, but this may bring it close.

It would be an even better deal if Congress would extend the IRS EV rebate to include this year and if you lived in a state that also provided EV purchase rebates.
