2018 Zero DSR/Charge Tank review

Hi Richard,
I see from your info that you have the charge tank on your 2018. How is that working out for you in terms of raising the COG/handling?

No "Charge Tank".  I have a "Power Tank".  It is easy to get these two Zero factory-installed accessories mixed up - until you ride a bike with them installed.  While I really appreciate the additional range my PT provides, I also really feel its heavy and high-up, 40 pound weight when trying to transition quickly from side-to-side.  As mentioned in the article, you likely get little of this feeling with the CT. But having five other IC motorcycles, I use the extra range the PT provides to replace driving my car during local trips and ride my IC motorcycles on longer rides, where more dedicated electric motorcycle owners would need a CT or something similar.

Yes, my bad, I meant to type power tank not charge tank. Thanks for your feedback. I had heard the same top heavy issue from another reliable source. Just where battery tech is at the moment, perhaps. You have to accept less range to keep the handling and balance optimal.

I've been tootling around on the new charge tank for a few months.

So far its been pretty good.

It's not refused to connect to any post I've attached it too, charges nicely at around 6 > 6.5kW from 7kW posts, and it can detect if its a 16A post and scale back its power consumption as a result.
This alone is really handy, as it means I can use 3kW posts without fear of tripping the fuse.

Now I just need to make a Three Phase cable, so I can also attach the onboard charger at the bigger 22kW posts. ;)
