Hello, i'm a happy owner of a zero s 2016 model

Today i tried to start up my bike after being stored for a winter period the throttle did not work anymore.
Last time i used the bike was in september 2017 and it's been connected to the charger the whole time so the
battery is 100%. I just read on the forum that Zero send out different instructions for long term storage of the bike.

There are no error messages and as far as i can see the logs do not have any errors.
When i turn the key to on i hear the relay click. When i push the bike i can hear the motor hum.

Things i did was to check all the fuses (except the 100A one) and disconnect all the connectors to the different
boards. But still no result.

Does anybody know what i can check why the throttle does not work anymore?

Simple things first.  Is the throttle kill switch on (scared myself with this one before)?  Is the kickstand fully up?  Do you hear the contactor click when you first turn the key?  You can check your app and BMS window to make sure you have a full charge.
Hope it's one of these.

I doubt it's related to keeping it plugged in, that was SOP for Zero's until last summer when they changed their storage charging protocol. My first winter i too kept in plugged in from Sep-April.

Ha i remember the kill switch also from last year But then you have an error code. I don't have an error code.
The contactor clicks after the you turn the key and the screen is done with the boot.

There is a thread about Throttle Fault a bit below this one and he has some multi meter numbers you could try.
There is also one about a guy's dog chewing his wires so you never know.
The "Unofficial Zero Manual" or your dealer is the only other resources  I can tell you.

Was there a resolution for this issue? I'm having the exact problem on my 2016 SR.

Throttles do fail,  You would need to check the resistance coming from it and the throttle cable connections.  Most likely one of these two things has failed if there are no error messages (as the mainboard couldn't know it's not working).

What evidence is there of a throttle problem?  Seems to me that it could be almost anything to make a throttle not respond. For an example, if the motor controller or even the motor crapped out, what would the difference be at the throttle?


I think I would start by checking if the battery voltage is getting to the motor controller. And then check if there is a signal on M1, M2 & M3 as the throttle is moved (with back wheel off ground, just in case it does run) . And work back from there.
