An article in the latest issue of
Motorcycle Consumer News describes the new Honda Riding Assist-E (catchy title, huh?). It is described as an "electric vehicle with a low center-of-gravity and very low seat height". However, its claim to fame is that it uses Honda's self-balancing technology that was announced last year. The bike uses a gyroscopic self-balancing device that apparently controls the number of degrees of lean that it will allow you to tilt when cornering. Safety first.
There was no comment regarding the range or power of the vehicle.
There was also no information regarding its availability or price. So my guess is that it is just a fun project for Honda. Personally I hope the government doesn't fall in love with the technology.
The video contained in this article also shows a weird fork rake action. I have no explanation as to why it is needed.
