There's certainly a focus at Zero Motorcycles (known from having toured the factory) on "One bike, one world, just put a different sticker on it". That latest recall is important because of the air-polluting vehicles the causative laws are intended to affect.

That link was blocked for me...so I googled it.
Zero Electric Motorcycle Recall for Equipment Issue
36 Zero bikes have incorrect label information on the Vehicle Emission Control Information label.

The following motorcycle recall report is filed with the NHTSA:
Report Receipt Date: November 28, 2017
NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V762000
Component(s): Equipment
Potential Number of Units Affected: 36
Manufacturer: Zero Motorcycles Inc.

THE RECALL: Zero Motorcycles Inc. (Zero) is recalling certain 2018 S ZF13.0, S ZF7.2, SR ZF14.4, DS ZF13.0, DSR ZF14.4, FX ZF7.2, and FXS ZF7.2 motorcycles. The information on the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) Label may indicate the wrong model year. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

WHAT COULD HAPPEN: If the affected 2018 motorcycles are ever subject to a recall, the owner may not realize the safety risk because of the misstated model year.

THE FIX: Zero will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect label with a corrected label, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in December 2017. Owners may contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085. Zero's number for this recall is SV-ZMC-017-380.

After quite a struggle, I finally located my emission sticker (who knew there even was one) on the head stock of my bike, located next to the VIN sticker and the battery label.  Then I had to obtain a magnifying glass to read the sticker as the printing was so small that I couldn't even read it with my reading glasses.  I finally was barely able to see that the sticker emission compliance was applicable to the 2018 year.  I hope that is good enough to satisfy the government sticker gods, as I don't want to ride the 20 miles into San Francisco and back home just to replace a sticker that I can't read anyway.   ::)

As if anyone is going to read that sticker anyway. The app tells you what year bike you have.
