Considering both the 2018 ZERO SR and an Energica EGO.  Trying to understand the issue of power, electric HP.  I understand the Energica EGO has a monstrous 145HP continuous power rating while the Zero SR is rated at only 28HP continuous power.  I don't think I go the right number from Energica though because the Zero SR's 28HP continuous rating translates into 70HP peak.  Does the EGO have a 300HP+ peak power rating. Could anyone shed some light on this?
Not doubt as to the EGOs beauty.  It's disappointing that Zero did not update its styling for 2018.

I think I'd be more interested in torque numbers.

As for beauty, I think the only electric manufacturer that has struck the right chord has been Sarolea.

The Ego doesn't seem to list weight on its spec sheet.  That's the other number I'd be using for comparisons.

Energica is easier to lift the front wheel of the ground.

You get more battery with zero. More miles.

You get better battery warranty with zero.

Energica has a value retention plan announced, but does not appear finalized. Looks like if you buy an Energica and keep buying Energica every two years you get a guaranteed trade in value. I tried to fully understand it and failed a bit. Check with a lawyer I guess

Energica has traction control. Zero not. I switched it to rain mode- I like traction, not my front wheel on the air.

Zero is quieter. Deer don't startle much.

Those are my impressions from a couple of years with a zero SR and a couple of hours with an *Eva*.

Over 15,000 trouble free miles with my 2016 Zero S.  Later models are far more reliable than earlier ones.

However, the Zero SR has far more aftermarket charging accessories, larger batteries, and almost the same amount of power.  So it depends on what those slight differences are worth to you.  For some, it may be a big deal to them.  For others, it may be worth saving the money.

It was more the response of the throttle with regards to regenerative braking.  With Zeros, the regen goes from 0 to max (whatever you set it to).  But with Energica's bikes, you can ease on the regenerative braking and toggle it to whatever you like.

Energica offers DC fast charging as an option, in my opinion this is Energicas biggest advantage.

There is no way that Energica bikes will be out of service at a lower rate than a Zero. Let's say there are 200 Energicas in the field - it's impossible to characterize a small-batch production bike as being more reliable no matter how nice the components are.

Quantity helps drive quality in a massive way.

I found the energica throttle less smooth than the zero at lower speeds. I was told lubricanting the chain would take care of it, that it has been a wet weekend.  But the regen was much smoother than zero's, an variable control rather than zero's two levels of preset and then on/off.  The energica does have reverse, which zero doesn't. (I haven't ridden a 2018 of either brand yet.)

There's no way to conclude that, yes. It may be so, but Germans are complaining about bikes being down, having to be shipped to Italy for service. There's not a good track record yet. They've probably did more bikes than lightning at this time, but that's not saying much.

Not having a chain is a HUGE plus for the zero in my book. I am so sick of chains.

Chain *and* gearbox. Yeah. More noise and more maintenance. But I did get used to the sound on my ride around Lake Stans.
