The file you posted seems to match what is available from https://apkpure.com/zero-motorcycles/com.ZeroMotorcycles and that its cryptographic signing hashes match for versions 1.2.8, 1.3.16, and 1.3.17 there. Other versions had inconsistencies.

I used the command 'apksigner verify --print-certs ...' and maybe there is still some way to sneak some bad code in there so use at your own risk.

What about changing custom drive settings support?

I did not test all versions for this. I have not had problems with custom mode settings. Changes are saved at least for App version 1.4.59 and 1.3.17 although I had to take care that the app was connected and not in "Demo mode".

Since it started for odedmaz after a firmware update, it's possible that the custom settings issue requires a combination of firmware\app\year.

Thanks for doing all those tests.

Hi,

thank you for the link to download the apk files of older versions!

tried the 1.2.8 and 1.3.17 and could not see any difference between them, but both enable the custom settings!

However, there is still no charge current/power display.

From version to version the app increases in size but not in performance...

It could be the phone. iPhone APP works and Android APP works on my Samsung S6, but not on my son's J7.

Can you be specific about the Android version (Settings | About Phone | Android Version), the App version, and the bike Make Year Model and firmware version and revision (available when you save the MBB log and browser-parse to see the firmware version and revision in the first lines of output) ?

It would be great to build a recommendation for what works and does not work, even though we are waiting for an updated App from Zero Motorcycles, who can wait that long?

Ah, is that MBB Revision 1? According to the Firmware Versions (zeromanual) table there's a newer firmware possible.

Yes I know, and asked the question to the nearest dealership "what's the difference/improvement from 38 to 44?", and they just replied "better ask directly Zero Motorcycles". Not really friendly...

Hope we owners could upgrade ourselves. On the other hand, a firmware up can go wrong and end up in costly board replacement, therefore it is preferably to change nothing as long as it works well. I can live without some details like the charge current. Just nice to have!

I think Zero agrees. That's why they made it possible to update firmware using phone app in 2017 models....Not that it helps if you have a 2016 or older.

Uploaded the previous Zero app for all those having difficulties with the updated version.
Should be easy and requires downloading and installing from the link below.

Good luck, Oded.

http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58fe65dd92f28/Zero%20Motorcycles-1.2.8.apk

Thanks for posting as your post info/file solved many woes on my 14 SR.

Prior to my bike getting updated, the app stopped allowing changes, any changes, to the custom settings.
My custom settings were just ok, but...

I asked Zero customer service sometime back, why the current app no longer worked. The answer was - we know about it and are working to resolve it.

So, I got the bike recently updated and discovered the custom settings were now the default, much like Sport.
I remembered this thread, gave it a go, and all is right again. I can adjust the Custom 'at will' now. It's been a very long time since changes were possible.

The questions I have for Zero are:
[1] Current app problems - How long have the problems persisted? Maybe a year, maybe longer....
[2] Why not publish two (2) apps - one for the years that the current app won't work and another for all others. How hard would that be?? It's just wrong to have a bike with fixed Custom settings.

Agree with you. Takes them way too long. Probably, not on their priority list.
Glad to hear you were able to solve the problem with an older app version.

Oded.
