Anyone able to help with transporting my ZERO from Montana to LA?
« on: September 23, 2016, 05:16:25 PM »

Hi all,

I'm looking to transport a ZERO from its current location in Montana to Los Angeles. Road transport is not cheap, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I'd be happy to pay someone if they have a ute or trailer coming from Canada or the north of Montana (longshot)

Thanks in advance,

Jef

There are several options that are actually pretty reasonable.
Uship is kind of a reverse auction. You put what you have to
be shipped ( towed ) from where to where and a time frame.
Shippers ( transporters ) bid what they will charge. I was going
to use them when I bought an Electric Toyota Paseo in Colorado
and needed it transported to Vegas. I had gotten some pretty
good quotes, but the time frame was a little longer than I wanted.
They seem to start with one item ( vehicle ) and bid their way across
country.
While in Colorado, making the decision to actually purchase the
Toyota, I looked on Craigslist and found someone that could pick it
up that evening, and deliver it in Vegas the next evening at a better
price than I had been quoted. Right place Right time.
Worst case would be to rent a truck in Montana with a drop off
in Los Angeles. I imagine that you should be able to get it picked
up and dropped off for under $500.

Thanks for your reply KrazyEd,

I know about uship and used them a long time ago for a decent price. Land shipping has gotten more expensive since then, and current quote from a random company is $515.

The tricky part is I am CONSIDERING to buy the bike in the next 2hrs while it's on auction! Good chance it will come in low as the seller has contacted me and told me the reserve which is a good price. BUT...I have to road ship it to LA, and then ocean freight it to New Zealand!! That all gets costly when adding it together.

Hopefully I can find a more affordable option than 500, and I'll look into uship for possibly 400...but anything less would be much more preferred. Perhaps a company shipping some flat-deck trucks could tie it down in the tray??

Exciting times considering I technically don't have the cash for the first time ever when wanting to buy something  :o I really hope the seller is understanding, as I have some money coming through shortly but can't let the deal get away if the price is right!

Wish me luck!

I wasn't aware that there would be further shipment overseas once it arrived in Los Angeles.
Any chance that you could have it drop shipped from present location to New Zealand?
Might be less cost / hassle overall.
