Zero App broke with iOS10?
« on: September 15, 2016, 09:44:39 PM »

After the iOS 10 update my Zero app is no longer connecting to my bike.  I have already tried a hard reset of the phone, removing the bike from the Bluetooth connection and pairing it again, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app.  Anyone else experiencing problems?

Update:  New Zero app (version 1.1.0) in the App Store.  The new app works and the screens look a little updated also, My Thanks to the Zero Team.

When you are trying to connect do you see the Bluetooth symbol flashing on the display?

If not hold the mode button on bike until it shows up then try to connect.

The Bluetooth connection is good it shows connected, I should have clarified that in my post. The app does not see the connection that why I think something got broke with the new OS.

I don't have Apple but I have had situations where the Bluetooth symbol on the dash shows solid (connected) and even the app thinks it's connected but the data is garbage. Getting properly connected usually involves some combination of holding the mode switch to get the icon to blink again and pair/unpair/connection attempts through the app (talk about frustrating).

That said...it's totally plausible that Crapple broke it with iOS 10 update.  Should be easy enough to find other iPhone users to confirm if they are able to connect with iOS 10 installed.

I hope some other iPhone users chime in.  I took my wife's iPhone paired it to the bike and installed the app and it yielded the same results I am seeing on my phone.  I sent Zero a message about the issue.  Thank you for the responses.

I don't have any Apple phones but a few guys at work have said that the new OS is causing all kinds of problems with many different apps

I dont have an Iphone, but my coworker does. With iOS10 he cant connect to his bluetooth serial module that I setup for him previously.  We were messing with it earlier today and even simple terminal programs no longer work.
I think you're stuck until there is an app update.

I thought it was just me. I've been using the beta for some time but just got my SR two weeks ago. I called Zero because I thought it was me. I guess it was iOS 10. When I checked on the status they just said they hadn't released an update yet.

Yes - its been broken since the first beta.  I considered telling them but as the app is basically useless and getting the iOS beta is cheap and easy so I basically thought they didn't care and I didn't consider it a high priority item.  Personally I wish they just document the API and allow others to write apps to their bike.

Since I have never used the Zero app prior to iOS 10,  am I missing anything? Is there something the app does that is necessary or fundamental in using with the motorcycle? I've never had a custom setting so I'm not missing that.  Just curious.

I'm on the same boat..tried using it last night and it connects to the Bluetooth but the app doesn't recognize it.

T-Mobile carrier in USA is generally advising customers not to upgrade to iOS 10, there are too many problems with it.
