other than the plugshare website, is there any online map or app that will show charging stations and let me plot a route, mark the intended stops and distances between them AND SAVE IT?

the last part is important, because I may spend 15mins setting up a plan, but then I have to go back to work, or whatever I was doing, and I may have to close the window.... so then I lose it when I come back...

I think plugshare is the only app with that capability. I always set the route using plugshare then into Google maps for more specific directions. I also take a lot of screenshots...

Does plugshare have an export function to send to GPS? I really have not spent enough time in plugshare yet.

Plugshare and RV Parky have helped me ride in all the lower 48 states.  They are great!

I was planning a route in Plugshare and found a lot of pictures of a lightning and lithium ion covered motorcycle.  It's good to see because it means they already know about electric motorcycles and I can count on a charge.    I can recognize the bike in the app and on the website without even having to click on the picture...thanks for that 

When you go to an RV park that you find through RV Parky, do you add it to Plugshare?  Any experience on I-70 through Kansas?  Looks like the middle of the state is an oasis when looking on Plugshare but on RV Parky it looks like there might be hope for a 50 amp outlet.

Also, on RV Parky Wal-Mart, Cabela's, Cracker Barrel and Camping World still show up after applying a 50 amp outlet filter but it doesn't look like they actually have a 50 amp connection.  Any experience with any of those places actually having a place to fast charge?

Is there a way on plugshare to set a route preference like "Avoid Highways"?  I can't seem to find it so have been using Mapquest, which has that option, for the route, then flipping back to plugshare to find chargers.

I haven't found that functionality in the plug share website. In the plug share Android app it kicks to your default navigation app which is Google Maps for me. Google maps does have an avoid highways feature that I use all the time.

Zen - Not sure if plugshare maps are exportable.  I typically retype them into google maps.

dukecola - I always put the charging locations into google maps and use that for directions.  They have an "avoid highways" option that I've used with success.

mrwilson - LOL!  Yes, I try to "tag" every location where I charge just for fun, but also so people can see the charging setup.
I definitely add any RV Park I visit to Plugshare and try to describe how EV friendly (or not) they are.  On rare occasions I have charged at local parks without permission (nobody to give money to, though I left money in the drop box).  Mostly I call ahead and confirm there are 50-amp spots available. 

There should be enough, or almost enough, places to charge along I-70 if you filter J1772 and NEMA 14-50 outlets on plugshare.  It's always dicey asking to charge at a hotel that is for guests only, but I've had pretty good success especially in the middle of nowhere like Kansas. 

I was only on I-70 through Kansas going west from Colby.

Using RV Parky, I always filter out stores, rest stops & gas stations because they will show up with the 50-amp filter, but if you click on them they do not show a 50-amp hookup.  There are some Cracker Barrels in the Southeast that have J1772 plugs, but I haven't seen any with NEMA 14-50s. 

Are you headed to Colorado Springs, Denver or somewhere else?

This is what Kansas looks like to me.  If you have a 2015 or 2016 with power tank, going 90 or 100 miles should be fine.  There aren't many stretches that long anyway.
