Alta Motors Redshift SM review in NYC
« on: June 06, 2016, 08:26:04 PM »

Sounds like it's a bit less efficient than the Zero FX. Same battery size but less range, from what I recall of the FX specs. This is the first time I've read that the Alta batteries are swappable.

I don't know if I would buy one or not. For one, currently I have no budget for toys. But mostly I'm interested because they've taken a very different technological path and it's a nice looking bike. Plus more manufacturers and models to choose from is good for the everyone.

"about 50 miles" could be in the right ballpark for the Zero FX. I think a true range comparison will have to wait either for a real-world test or for Alta to release test results from the MIC test protocol.

Alta claims an estimated range of 50 miles for the Redshift SM "based on recreational trail or mixed road use", or 2 hours for the Redshift MX under similar conditions.

Too vague to really tell which of Zero's test conditions this is similar to. Zero claims 68 miles of mixed city and 55 mph riding, or 52 miles mixed city and 70 mph riding for the two-brick FXS.
