New mirrors
« on: June 03, 2016, 07:17:21 AM »

The standard mirrors on my 2016 SR just show me a view of my chest.
Anyone fitted these Arrow bar-end mirrors?

On my 2012 S I installed "mirror extenders" to move the stock mirrors out about 2 inches, that I bought from Amazon for around $15. They worked, and continue to work, just fine.  :)

I agree with the view problem, too much elbow bending.
These mirrors look great,
would like to know how they fit on an S

I feel the handlebars and mirrors are already too wide and putting extenders or mirrors like these that stick further out would make the bike even wider. I wonder if playing with the height or placing them under the bars would work too, but without widening the bike's overall footprint...

I agree. Here in California we can split lanes, which is a great help in traffic. But the mirrors on my 2014 SR already stick out quite far, making the bike quite wide. The last thing I want to do is make it any wider!

How about no mirrors?

Go to about 35sec mark for the helmet.

While thats a concept - Skuily is actually shipping a helmet that does something similar.  I have an order in for one.

I got them on my 2013 S work great.  Got sick staring at my elbows.  But no lane splitting here so the extra width is not an issue for me.  You can also get end bar mirrors from the same company that are round but fold in for lane splinting.  But mirror you looking at do fold up to make the bike as wide as your handle bars.

How did you mount them?
Do you need the adaptors?
If so, what size?

I bought a pair of these foldable bar-end :

http://smile.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Aluminum-Anodized-Adjustment-Blindsight/dp/B005KI6ZQU

They do widen the bike a bit, but they also give me feedback when I split lanes- if I am cutting it too close, the mirror folds away, no damage done.

They also have an offset, and the view is below my elbows, quite good.

With the factory mirrors, all I saw was my puffy sleeves.

I've been looking and looking for a backup camera that I could use with my cell phone, which I've already got a mount for on my handlebar. I'd be VERY happy to get rid of one of my mirrors, keep one to be legal but fold it in out of the way, and use a good backup camera instead -- it would give a better image than any mirror ever could. There are any number of dash cams which would work great (in fact I have one), except for one thing -- they don't have the ability to flip the image left to right. I've tried every app I can find, bought one dash cam to try out, read everything I can find, and I can't find a single dash cam/app which can flip the image horizontally. It seems like it ought to be a very easy thing to do, but I haven't found anything yet.

have you tried adjusting them properly?

If you said "my elbow is in the way" or "I have to look through under my armpit" I would understand....

but if your CHEST is in the way, than your mirrors are no where close to being properly positioned, and I wonder if you have the left on the right and the right on the left.

Yes adapters are needed.

CRG Billet Internal Adapter For CRG Bar End Mirror
Color:Black
Size:7/8"

I had to make a hole on the end of the rubber grip insert the adapter insert the adapter and turn a screw to cause the adapter to expand so it would not fall out.  Then attach the mirror to the adapter.  The instructions that come with the mirror & adaptor are good.
