There is actually a military version of the Zero FX that is currently fielded.

I think that's the first realistic motorcycle hybrid power train reported! Kudos, if so. It's interesting that Alta's power train is in a second company's DARPA prototype already. There also seems to be active cooling for hot desert operations.

Take a closer look, there is no FX in this article.

"Both bikes feature cutting-edge hybrid multi-fuel engines that can burn a variety of combustibles like JP-8, Jet A-1, gasoline, propane, etc."

The one using an Alta motor has come up before:  http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1096461_darpa-funds-silenthawk-military-hybrid-electric-motorcycle-prototype

I think I saw a Zero rep say the FX was in military "testing" when he was pressed.  I think the range limits would require a mother vehicle and about 8 batteries charging  and swapping out for anything more than a quick assault.
Yes this is a hybrid not a pure electric but it shows the direction they are going.
New aircraft carriers use all electric systems, powered by their nuclear reactors, but even the catapults are electric now.  Electromagnetic rail guns.  Amazing stuff.

It's the MMX and as I recall hybrids were requested beyond this. http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/fleet/military/
