600 mile service this weekend.
« on: May 10, 2016, 08:37:41 AM »

I have 546 miles on my S now.  It is 34 miles round trip to the office, so I'm going to make my appointment to bring it in this Saturday (if the shop has the time).  Also need them to repair/replace the flasher relay and if my windshield came in I might as well have them install that too.

I wonder if I'll be lucky enough to have the back-ordered trunk in?  Guess I'll find out soon enough.

Be careful.. a buddy took his in for the first service and they tried to update the firmware, which ended up bricking the bike.  He's waiting for a new BMS from Zero now.  Checking the belt and brakes, etc is good though.

Lovely.  Well, that's why I have more than one bike, and anything they screw up is their responsibility to fix.  My dealership has taken very good care of my BMWs over the years.  Zero is new to them, but I'm hopeful they're as careful with them as they have been with their other brands.

Thanks,

Was it the new firmware that is just now being sent to dealers?

Just made the appointment and learned my top box FINALLY came in... so I get to kill two birds with one stone.  Three, actually, if my Commuter shield also came in.  :)

Whatever firmware they had a week ago killed it.. maybe they just released a new one this week to fix that.  If so, nothin' to worry about!  Ignore me  ;D

Well, everything came back and the only issue was having to "re-pair" my phone to the bike.  For some reason, it wouldn't connect immediately as it used to.  Would a software upgrade do that?

Also got the rack and trunk installed (no more carrying a back pack!) and had the commuter shield installed.  It seems to be just the right size to let me feel the wind, but at the same time prevent my torso from getting punished by it.  Wish it looked better than it does, but I'll take function over form any day.

It might have reset a memory area that stored your phone's ID.

What is done for the 600 mile service?  I'm still sitting on the fence about buying one.  Where I'm moving to doesn't have a dealer within range, so I'd like to assess if this is something I could do, something any shop could do, or something that I'd need to rent a trailer and spend half a day taking care of.

Looks like they retorqued everything and checked adjustments for everything.  Also flashed new software (you can't do that at home).  They also ordered a replacement switch which was diagnosed as the problem with my turn-signals/four-way flashers.

Not part of the service BUT they installed the GIVI trunk that was back-ordered at the time my bike was ordered as well as the commuter shield I ordered after the fact.

Did you order the Givi case that is listed on Zero's web site? If yes, which model case is it?

When the bikes are updated sometimes you have to reload or re open the app, and sometimes if your app is not updated when you updated the bike it wont wont until you update the app

The model is not listed on Zero's web site, that's why I asked. Looks like it is the E340, can you confirm?

No idea.  I only know what is on that page.  That is the box I ordered when I ordered the bike, and that's what was installed.  Model applications are at the bottom of the page in the link above.
