Zero accessories?
« on: April 11, 2016, 09:46:27 PM »

Does anyone have any idea where to get zero fx aftermarket parts that you know will match and fit? Zero website is limited to very little products. I'm looking for aftermarket handlebars, foot pegs, passenger pegs, hand guards, mirrors, led turn signals, etc. I see a lot of websites with common bike products such as Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha but none that offer zero accessories specifically.

In this case I suspect "Brick & Mortar" is going to trump "Online."  I suspect a lot of the components you are asking about are fairly "generic" parts but you'll have to visit motorcycle shops to see for yourself.

I had this same question when I rode Buells.  Turns out a LOT of the components they used outside of the frame and plastics were generic parts used by multiple manufacturers.  Turn signal lenses, for example, were the same as those used by the BMW "F" series of motorcycles.  Maybe someone can put together a list here as someone did back in the heyday of Buell Motorcycle Company (before Keith Wandell and Harley Davidson shut them down).

I would like to find a simple rear rack that is not designed to hold a top case, just something to carry a small bungeed package.

You can do that perfectly well by spending the $150 (or $100) on the top rack without the case/plate [I did this for my DSR, mainly to carry over a Givi case from my gas bike]. The closest analogue on the third-party market is the Givi Wingrack which is the same price and not as good a match to the Zero frame.

A few of my mods...
MSR bar ends
Woodcraft 10mm axle spools (had to make mounting rods, all thread w/ nylocks)
Foot peg sliders (meant for Suzuki DRZ fit perfect)
Tailblazer taillight (blinks an that)
Sato racing helmet lock on left bar so helmet sits on mirror D ring is right there.
SR front fender on my FXS, I think it looks better!

I'll try and post a pic

Zero LED Turn signals - the website lists Zero specifically.

Weiser Technik - a PO box just down the street from Zero in Scotts Valley.

Nice find! I've written to ask if the Weiser modules emulate an incandescent resistive load, and if so would that be easy to bypass.

As for handlebars, any 1 1/8" bars should work, Renthal, Tag metals, etc. However, I think I read somewhere that the throttle housing requires an index hole. If this is true, just copy the hole once you remove it from your old bars.

@Shadow, did you got anything back from Weiser? I'm also wondering if there's a separate resistor needed or is it plug and play (that would be really nice) In the video on their site they don't mention anything like this, so the resistor should be included and mounted on the back of the PCB?

[edit]
On you will see a complete installation and at around 3:55 and 5:20 you will see a big resistor of about 5Watt. So yes it is plug and play!
Remaining question is: how many unit's are in a package?

You buy a pack of two - they have a new type out now and these are even brighter..took less than 5 minutes to install all four lights...

I got a SAE/USB 12" cable for a few squids. Removed seat, left, right, and center "tank" panels. Could have left center on. SAE connector is located under bundle of wires on right side on FX platform. In this pic the cable is on top (I wanted to test it) but I wound up routing it under the frame and out the left front. It tucks in nicely when not in use. Only powers up when the key is on.  Pic #2 is a T shirt that I am going to make cuz the loudest bike on Earth contest is really hotting up around here and it's pissing me off!
