My wishlist -
- Reverse switch (advantage only electrics can have)
- Belt repair emergency kit
- RTR off road Zero (better shocks, seat, tires...)
- Quick detachment of the rear lights and fender.

Goldwing's have had reverse for a while now. Works well for them, almost a necessity on a giant bike like that. It wouldn't matter much to me on something as light as a Zero.

I'm specifically interested in making sure I can back up while facing downhill (mud or gravel too). Someone could market it as an extra, if the firmware mapping were easier to apply.

My wishlist.

Move the bloody BMS to a more water proof location!  >:(
Sort out the blasted isolation problems while they are at it.

(Ok, my SR is in for fixing after water ingress possibly may have killed the BMS, so I'm little biased right now)

I'm surprised no one mentioned my one thought:  PARKING BRAKE!!  Unlike most ICE bikes, which you can leave in gear to keep it from rolling, there is nothing to prevent the Zero (or any electric bike I can think of) from rolling off the sidestand if parked on a decline.  Even CVT-equipped scooters have a parking brake to prevent that from happening.

Best solution would be to copy BMW's idea of integrating the parking brake into the sidestand.  With my C650GT, once the sidestand is down, you can't roll the scooter anywhere.  Unlike my old TMAX (where you had to remember to set the parking brake), it's all "automatic."

its a bit of a pain to put on every time, but there are locks that squeeze the front brake on. They work pretty well for this, although they're not as convenient.

I recall there is a way to lock a hubmotor.. I think it was just shorting the phases together or something like that. some controller I used to have had the feature. That could work too.

When parked on a hill, I strap a Velcro strip, that I carry in my tank bag, around my front brake lever. Very light, cheap and seems to work just fine.   :)

On my Silverwing it's remembering to release the brake that's the problem. Doh!

Just remember my parking on a hill rule: back downhill, forward uphill. [emoji6]
Seriously though, I don't think it would be that easy. You might have to reverse the polarity to the motor. Sounds like invasive low level stuff to me.

One of the features that I liked about the Vectrix that I tested years ago was its back-up "gear".  My recollection is that when at a stop you turned the throttle forward, beyond closed, and the motor would back the scooter up slowly.  A very handy idea. Vectrix had a lot of good ideas.  Too bad they couldn't sell enough product to make a long-term go of it.   :(

Nah, couldn't be more trivial. I'd be amazed if the firmware isn't resident in the motor controller already. All it would need is the right commands on the CAN bus from the MBB. That's a hardcore, highly intelligent, multi-phase motor controller.

Cruise control would be a trivial exercise too. I'm surprised Zero hasn't made those two features available. I'd find them both useful and safe.

I had a CB750A for years, it had a parking brake. I never used it, didn't need it, bike never moved once parked.

1. Heated grips
2. Helmet lock.

Otherwise she is purrfect!

in that case, you're in luck.
You can add both of those easily.

I was told to lock my helmet by putting the d-rings in the clasp that holds the storage bag.
