@Straightedg4lif that looks sweet!

I was really set on getting an S, since it's a bit cheaper, and I don't mind not having the SR torque. But at this point, I think I'd rather go for the SR since I really really don't like the yellow, and hey at least I'll get some more torque with the SR. I don't even like red, I just really don't want a yellow bike.

Ugghh yellow is just so unappealing to me on a bike, they should just keep it simple in having black or white options, I think that's a solid option for people.

Sorry, rant over lol.

I totally get your rant! I also agree about black and white because then you can add things to it to make it more your style.

I think if I was wanting an S I would go with the SR as well just based on the color ( yellow is not my cup of tea either). Wait a minute maybe that's Zero's whole plan...for people to buy the more expensive bike....haha.

I'm looking forward to more torque, and red is by far the better color choice. Plus I don't think it would cost too much to have it painted since there's really not that much that needs to be changed. Keep me posted with what you end up doing, I'm curious by nature.

The way Zero has their dealers setup now with just a couple demos and everything else from the factory that could make color options much easier.  The only real draw back now is they put the badge on the tank.  All the tanks are the exact same just the model badges are different.  I don't know where else they could badge it, battery maybe, so that you could just tell them which tank and fender you wanted.
Seems doable.
I'd want the orange in a "R" package of some sort myself.

I love the color of my yellow Zero S and am happy with the 2017 yellow color too.   :)  For me black is too stealthy in traffic and white looks too plain unless it is offset with Bold New Graphics.   ;)

Body kits are relatively inexpensive ... check with a Zero dealer for specific pricing info.

What's the typical wait time to receive a bike after ordering it? I know the dealers or most don't have the 2017 demos yet, but when they are readily available does it take a long time to get one when ready to purchase? I'm still months away from getting mine but trying to see when I need to start inquiring about them.

If you don't like the body color, why not take it to a local paint shop? There isn't that much bodywork on it anyway, it shouldn't be that expensive...

That is probably what I will end up doing in the future. I was just thinking that if they would change them out to my color choice that would be the easier way to go. That way I don't have to take my bike somewhere and not have the use of it for a few days or so.

I figured I could just place my order for my bike, and instead of perhaps a power tank being installed they could swap colors. I could pick it up all ready to go. I will be checking with my dealer on the best options for me.

The Zero website is live with the 2017 info!

Unlimited Mileage/5 Year Warranty
Storage Tank Lockable Storage
New SEVCON Controllers
Zero SR (116 ft-lb torque; 70hp up from 106 ft-lb ; 67 hp) (775 amp up from 660 amp) (Gearing changed from 130/30 to 90/20) (0-60 times not listed....because the old bikes aren't actually 3.3s but the new bikes are)
        Zero S (81 ft-lb torque; 60hp up from 68 ft-lb ; 54 hp) (550 amp up from 420 amp) (No change to gearing)
S/DS ZF6.5
   Lockable storage in the monolith
Compatibility w/ power tank or charge tank
Paint instead of colored plastic
New graphite color for DSR
Bike Firmware updates via the Zero app

You upgrading?

If by upgrading you mean upgrading from a one bike stable to a two bike stable....then....YES!  I am upgrading!  I'm not going to get rid of my 2014 Zero S...at least not right away.  Just got a quote for a 2017 Zero SR with a few options and I will be going in tomorrow to give my down payment and finish up paper work etc.  Unfortunately for me, they are filling all the dealer demo orders first before they are fullfilling any customer orders.  It makes sense that they would want to get the bikes to dealers so they can get butts in seats and sell more bikes....but I'm impatient...haha

Anyway, I should hopefully have the bike by the end of the month....maybe even by Thanskgiving but I won't hold my breath  ;D

Well it took like a month for me to get a top box rack, so I cant imagine the bike delivery being any faster  :-\   BTW if you want a black tank, why not just swap the old S tank for the new SR's?  Or... buy a new black tank and donate that shiny painted red tank to zeropointzero  ;)

Thinking about the 32ah cells, here is a bit of a problem. If you had a power tank as well then the charge time would be about 12 hours, a bit to long to be practical, so Zero needs a new onboard charger of at least 2.5 kw/h to move to the new cells.
OR
Drop the power tank option for either storage or charge tank. But that would be cutting max. range which some ppl want.

I think next year we will see a more powerful onboard charger and a 14.3 kw/h pack (or more).
