It would be reasonable to have the new models in dealer showrooms the same day they make the announcement.

They say they're on display and ready to ride right now.

The 2013 cells had a potting material that was found over time could react with the pouch cell itself, and this was fixed in 2014.
Where did you get this information? Is there any link or official information existing?

Here's a link to a photo of the new tank cover.  No more tank bag, a locking plastic lid instead.  Makes much more sense!

Where do you get this plastic tank cover? Will it fit on a 2016 SR?

Saw the '17 DSR today, side by side with the '16. I was not interested in riding them, but took a good look.

- new wider and beefier belt with bigger teeth
- new battery pack, 2 modules vs. 4. Same capacity, 13kW as '16. A "half pack" option of the S and DS will be available as someone mentioned
- the new tank cover looks nice, but it does not stretch for that little extra half inch storage and needs a key to open/close (good and bad)
- painted plastics, like car paint
- more torque  higher top speed. Not sure if I heard right, 116 and 106 respectively for the DSR.
- there is some new plastic on the front of the battery, not much different in looks than the old one

My guess is that when the new higher capacity cell pouches become available, more/thicker version can be squeezed in each of the modules. Just speculation though...

Is the space under the tank cover the same triangle space or is it square/rectangle and bigger now?

Sorry, did not look inside. The shape seen from the top seems the same, so I suspect it is the same inside. Don't know about retrofitting either.
