Some dealers do not do this (mine didn't offer and I got distracted with loan paperwork and forgot to ask). Ask explicitly.

I wish my DSR were not entirely black - I have white SP plastics that I'd like to use but they are scratch-and-dent so they'd mess with the finished appearance. I tried applying vinyl but couldn't make it work.

Would your dealership not do it or did you just forget to
ask? I would think most would do practically anything to get the sale. Will definitely make sure mine will do it, or I will go somewhere else. Have a few near me, so hopefully someone will do it.

When I bought my FX the dealer offered to do just that. They said that whatever model I bought, if I wanted to change color, they could get, at a reasonable price, whatever color bodywork was available that would fit and change it out for me.
Has the FX ever been available in a colour other than black?

White for FXP. Other color choices if you go with S(R) or DS(R).

They didn't offer and I didn't push them on it. It didn't help that I wasn't playing any games about whether I'd buy it, as an upgrading 2013 owner.

Here's another thought I'd like to see for 2017.  Get rid of that stupid "tank bag" and put a real locking lid over that compartment instead.  Hollywood Electrics now sells a very nice carbon fiber cover but it is very expensive. It also proves that it is "do-able."  No reason Zero can't make a less expensive plastic cover instead as original equipment.  Then, anyone wishing to upgrade the look of the bike could replace it with the Hollywood Electrics' upgrade.

And make it waterproof, too.

BrianTRice or mrwilsn mentioned seeing exactly that on his factory tour on a previous page of this thread.

Giving credit where credit is due, it was @Killroy that said he saw lockable storage tank.

I did comment on the fact that he had seen it.  While I didn't see this myself, I don't have any reason to doubt him.

When I took the Zero factory tour, I saw a bunch of tank plastics with hard lockable storage compartments.

So, probably no more small zipper bags.

Last year Zero announced the 2016 lineup at AIMEXPO.  This year AIMEXPO starts 13 October.  The word on the street is that they will announce the 2017 lineup at EICMA in Milan Italy which starts on 8 November.

It seems unlikely that Zero would skip AIMEXPO which is in Florida to travel to Europe to make an announcement at the biggest motorcycle convention of the year just to say "check out the 2017 bikes which are mostly the same as last year but with a little more range!".  Not trying to set expectations too high...just sayin.

I predict the look of the bikes will be mostly unchanged (maybe a new color...@Killroy mentioned lockable storage tank) but there will be more improvements under the hood.

I don't recall if it is lockable or not. Tank bag is now flip top tank lid.

New dealer just contacted me and said they've got 2017 Zeros in. Is he scamming me to go out and visit him? Said they were released this month. I'm going to be pissed if I get there and find 2016s.

They will not be 2017 bikes.

How far away is he from you? You might want to get there and have the scoop. If they turn out to be 2016's do a 180 degree turn at their doorstep and never visit them again.

I thought it was early December? If it's in 3 days, maybe they really did get a 2017 early..

If he's a new dealer there may have been no point shipping him a 2016, especially if little has changed. I'd pop in of it wasn't too far away.
