Advice for removing battery 2012 zero s
« on: April 06, 2016, 01:02:33 PM »

Hi all, I am new to the forum. I was hoping someone had a service manual for a 2012 zero s or  A guide to removing the battery. I am stripping all the parts down to the frame to make a race bike and have heard the process is tricky. I also don't want to electrocute myself if there is charge in any capacitors :o

 Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I don't believe that Zero has ever published a "service manual" for any of their models. Just "owners manuals" which do not provide any guidance for removing or repairing anything.  If this information is out there it is all DIY from enthusiasts like Dr. Bass and not in written form, to the best of my knowledge.

It is possible.

You remove the seat,  and plastic "gas" air tank,
You disconnect all multiple wires connectors, then  You will need to disconnect the two big wires( one that goes to the controller and one that is a big black Anderson SB175 connector) Make sure that you connect a 120V lightbulb to teh batt + and Batt - on the controller once the motorcycle is OFF to discahrge the capacitors of the controller.

Remove the Bottom metal  and then the yellow charger,

Lift the motorcycles, remove the front wheel,  and put a block strong enough to support 200 lbs ruight under the battery then remove the 4 big bolts that support the battery.
