Is this true for YOU?!!!? FXS/FX ?
« on: April 04, 2016, 04:46:45 AM »

In the link above is a review where the guy testing the 2016 zero fxs says it doesn't have the same "aggressive snap" as the 2015 zero fx he tested in the passed does... for those of you who have been privileged to ride both the FX and the FXS would you say this is true? The reviewer thinks the lack of kick in power is possibly because of the new IPM motor... Do you think that is why zero didn't add the new IPM motor into the 2016 fx (because it mellowed down some of the excitement from the original motor.)

Which did you feel is overall funner to ride, the zero FX or zero FXS? Im trying to decide on which to buy.... (I just wish the FXS could do a proper POWER wheelie.)

Thanks for any input.

I think also battery cells were changed also, with higher capacity cells the max current discharge may be less (C rating), the cells have thinner anode / cathode plate size and allows more electolyte li-ion chemical for increased capacity. 25Ah > 27Ah. This is why FX did not use 27Ah cells in 2015.
For 2016 FX and FXS are using the latest 29Ah cells that allow high discharge. see below post by Farasis Engineer.

25Ah cell data
https://evmc2.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/fei-datasheet-imp06160230p25a-pouch-25ah-v5.pdf

if anyone has 27ah and 29Ah cell data sheets please post in forum.

Here is a post about 27Ah and 29Ah cell by Farasis Engineer.

I have a 2015 fx and went and test rode the fxs side by side and the fxs has noticeably more snap to it. Due to the smaller wheels, tires, and suspension was my conclusion.

any of you guys with an FX want to take a measurement for me? i have access to the FX-S but not the FX.

it would require you pulling your front wheel and measuring the distance, center to center, across the brake disc mounting bolts.

it needs to be pretty precise using either calipers or a really good metric ruler.

i'm trying to figure out how to put an FX front wheel on an FX-S without moving the caliper. to do this i need to find a 320mm rotor to fit the FX bolt pattern. thought i had it whooped but did not have correct measurements.

if anyone of you guys is up for it, i'd really appreciate it.

thanks,

laramie  ;)

Here is a generally positive review of the 2016 FXS:  https://rideapart.com/articles/2016-zero-fxs-ride-review

anyone have an answer for this question?

----Im considering an FXS, but the fee's bring the bike around $13,260 (USD) out the door. Of course there is the tax credit to take from this price, but that will not be reimbursed until the end of the year.  Does this price sound about right for an FXS to anyone??? so much more money than the 10k or under I thought I would have to spend for the cheapest zero...----

just above the number i'm looking at. taxes and state fees may be higher in your local.

i'm purchasing mine by the end of april so i can get their new promotion. they are offering a $650 visa card if you buy an FX or FX-S ($1000 for any other). they are calling it "fuel for life." basically covering the cost of charing your bike for it's "life."

with the 10% on the bike,  30% on charger, and the $650 card, that put's my "final" end cost on the bike @ $10,950.

i can live with that.

good luck,

laramie  ;)

If you look at the pictures on the Australian Zero web site and flick between the FX and FXS you can see that the frame is angled up a little more on the FX.  Add a taller bike and both these things would make the FX easier to wheelie. Whether this is the full story I don't know.

125.02 mm. Nominal is probably 125mm.

The alignment boss is 104.68mm. Nominal is probably 105mm.

is this the center-to-center measurement across?

alignment boss? sorry i have looked at the bike several times but may not know exactly what you are talking about. can you explain a little more on this?

i have been looking at several options to use FX wheels on a new '16 FX-S. searching leads now for a manufacturer that might have, or willing to make one that would work.

let me know where you want that beer sent to. :)

thanks,

That is center to center. The disc sits on a machined surface that locates it on center. That diameter the disc needs to sit on is the 105mm
