Hi everyone,

I bought a new Zero FXS and have a question regarding the higher top speed gearing option.
On the forums here, I read that it's not expected to change battery life and range.
My question is, how much does the reduction in torque affect acceleration?
Maybe an actual 0-100km time for comparison?

I have a 2013 set up as a Supermoto, similar to the FXS. I went from a 25 tooth to a 30 for greater speed.
It took A LOT of the fun out of it. Dropped back to a 28, got back some of the fun, but, still not as much
as with  the stock gearing. I have seen people getting the older high speed gearing package with the
98 / 25, and, putting both belts on, with one being zip tied out of the way. If I do another gearing change
this may be my option. You have all the fun of the standard gearing, then, swap the rear sprocket and
use the Longer gearing for high speed. My concern would be with one of the belts held in one position
for a long period of time without use. I just wish it was easier to change the front sprocket.

What was your top speed with the 28 and 30?

   Not factoring in wind resistance or tire growth, the "possible" speeds
Should be right around 105 for the 30, just under 100 with the 28.
I also figured out top speed with the 98 rear and 30 front for an
FX with an S motor and Size 6 controller to be somewhere around
130.
   I have no idea what was being run, but, a few years ago
at REFUEL, I saw a Zero ( prototype ? ) with sportbike body
work hitting 134 mph ( I believe that was shown on the overhead
display as the bike passed speed camera ) on the straight away.

I think the controller limits max RPM not top speed.

my 2013 FX is somewhat limited as far as programming with DigiNow Dongle, but,
one of the few things that I am able to change is the specified gearing. As stated,
standard programming is set to 6,000 RPM I believe ( at least on my 2013 FX ).
I have tried setting top speed to something higher than that RPM, and, it falls
back to whatever the speed would be at 6,000. I was able to get it to go over
the 6,000 limit ONCE. It was a fairly long steep downhill. The bike hit 110 mph
at 6,300 rpm I believe before it cut back to 6,000. This happened after only
a second or so. FX really needs a steering damper at that speed. I am sure
that there are higher RPM limits that can be programmed in using the FULL
Zero programming tools, but, not sure what a SAFE limit would be.

DigiNow Dongle???  If there's any way of unleashing a higher top speed on an SR, I'd love to try it.  Even 110mph for a short burst sounds awesome.

Oh, just found that it used to be sold by Hollywood Electrics.  Does DigiNow still make those??  Or are there any other options to tweak the controller's settings?

   I am not sure of the present status of the dongle new. I got mine from Harlan last year. Early on, there were
some very impressive claims and videos about it. I am able to do SOME things, but, not a lot compared
to what was shown in the videos. Brandon told me that the 2013 FX is pretty limited on what can be done
via the dongle.    Custom programming by a competent Zero dealer would probably be similar in price to the dongle, but,
MUCH more in depth. Of course, it would be a one and done thing, with no additional programming by owner.
You should be able to get a mile or two for a few seconds as it is now, just have a good run at top speed, the
bike will pass the rpm limit, then, the controller will catch up and drop it back to whatever it is programmed
for. Not long enough for any REAL speed, but, enough to show on the gauge.
