2016 Zero motorcycle magazine coverage
« on: January 20, 2016, 10:44:42 AM »

Zero brought in a group of journalists to test ride the 2016 models between Santa Cruz and Alice's Restaurant.

First up is Motorcyclist Magazine, with a relatively light but effusive article about the recent improvements:

One note at the end indicates that Zero will be offering "Color Kits" which are a set of fairings including the (sport model) front fender. Whether an elusive (personal favorite) blue option will be offered is not indicated. ;) I'm guessing they'll be priced pretty reasonably, given the prices paid so far for customers willing to ask.

Motorcycle.com has a review up as well, penned by their EVergreen editor Troy.

Pretty positive overall; there was a little bit of traffic at times, but Troy was not able to get the motor to overheat despite riding pretty hard.

The 37 mile loop to Alice's Restaurant and back dropped the bike to 13% charge remaining - the ZF5.7 models wouldn't have made this trip at a similar pace. Troy says the FXS started to reduce power at 20%; I'm curious whether the power reductions were due to a get-home software mode kicking in or whether the batteries were simply running into a power limit at low SOC.
