2016 Electric Motorcycle Buyer's Guide
« on: January 09, 2016, 08:24:56 AM »

The new 2016 Electric Motorcycle Buyer's Guide is online!

http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1101556_2016-electric-motorcycle-buyers-guide

There are a lot more options available now than there were a couple of years ago and the future looks bright!  Energica is is poised to deliver bikes to customers in the next few months.

Also, please post comments about the bikes in the article.  There are so many interesting storylines and motorcycles available now.  Unfortunately, so far the comment section has been dominated by the ZEV guy trying to grab attention.  It's frustrating to have a scooter manufacturer take up all the space in the comments for a motorcycle article.

They forgot the models made by Bell Custom Cycles, the Brutus V9, Brutus 2 and the V2 Rocket.

Energica Ego has 100 kW / 134 hp.

Interesting to see pricing for the Lightning motorcycle.

The BMW eRR seemed more like a concept than a production-intent model.

Yeah, they said it was an experiment, Konzept eRR, but at least it's a step closer and shows that they're interested! BMW Press Release

They weren't included because they don't seem to be making or selling their bikes.  They made 2 electric motorcycles, which are both pretty awesome, but haven't moved forward as a manufacturer.  If they had some pricing or a pre-order page, then they would be included in the future.

Exactly!  It's somewhat frustrating that he continues to dominate the comment section of an article that has nothing to do with his cheap Chinese knockoff that he claims is all American.  Please don't encourage or engage him.

Last night ZeroLover absolutely roasted him in plain view and it was a clear, concise, and tactful takedown of his ridiculousness.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing more posts about the actual motorcycles that are listed.  Some more people are making on-topic comments now.

I was reading that too; and when the specs come out I know there will be a few more comments of that nature

Sadly. Zero and Brammo/victory are the only two really selling bikes, well now the eva/ ego too but no offense but 1 bike a month is more like a garage/hobbie to me, once you start selling 10+ a month then you can call it a real production.
If one is going to sell is the us most likely it will be sold and ridden in LA, its the largest demographic for electric motorcycling. Probably through harlen, as hebis that local dealer

I also find it slighly interesting why the alta is "so" popular around here, a few have register snd showed interest, why do they have no comment of the fxs??? Really just curious, having 13 s wheels on my fx for about a year made me relize how amazing of a little street bike it really is. Stoplight to stoplight its quick, and on narrow bumpy twisty mountain roads it really handles like a dream, they point and shoot out of the turns really well.

You mentioned the 10% tax credit for buying an electric motorcycle but you didn't mention the 30% tax credit that can be applied to charging equipment like the charge tank on a Zero.  :(

Oooo noooo

I was always curious about that claimed range at 80 mph; and even morr so after thry said 80 miles at 80 mph.  Interesting it looks like it barely does 75! I wonder what the actual miliage is

If you are interested in talking about a company or product that is not an electric motorcycle, would you please do so on a different thread?

I'd like to keep the discussion here about motorcycles, not scooters.  There are so many awesome bikes listed, and I'm interested in your ideas about the bikes that are available.

Cheers!

BTW, has anyone seen a Lito Sora other than on Hawaii 5-0?

He comes here, we roast him, he disappears. He goes there, gets roasted.... Just won't give up will he! he's just another snake oil salesman.

Good article, only 3 or 4 motorcycles that are even on the market though.... good list overall.
