San Francisco, December 16, 2015 – Alta Motors, the San Francisco-based electric vehicle company, announced that they delivered their first motorcycle to BMW Motorcycles of San Francisco, where it was purchased by customers Eric Gauthier and Jeannine Smith, who own and operate Suspension Performance in Mountain View, CA.

The act lije they bought it; but im pretty sure its been on sale on cl for a while sooo have they even sold their first bike?

I think the next few weeks will be pretty revealing. I've been rooting for these guys, but 6-8 months has turned into years...

looks like a badass bike, but still seems like a prototype to me



I cant remember which dirt bike it was (of the 2 similar non zero electric dirtbikes) a good friend of  mine tested one in la on a track, did good until it's throttle was stuck wide open and wrecked on some big jumps. besides that they said it performed well



only problem right now is electric vehicles are great for short sprints, tight turning tracks but a track were its flat-out and you want all your power up at the top of your rpm range, to me gas bikes still have the advantage up there.....

my fx is much quicker than my neighbors race bikes off the line, but up top gas bikes are a little quicker(have more snap), more noticeable when the fx has less than 25% battery..

Exactly why I'd like to see a beefier version of a NuVinci hub on an MX or Motard bike. A CVT you could control with your thumb like an ATV would be a great way to let the rider choose where the meat of the power is delivered.

Colorado trails and RMEC races that necessitate a battery swap (big $ for another pack) have scared me away so far. Seriously considering this bike or a new FX and doing the chain kit.

It's hard to find stats for the Redshift. What's the price, and does it do anything the FX or FXS don't?

$15k for the race bike, $15.5k for the SM.

It's about 30 pounds lighter than the ZF6 FXS, but has less capacity.

It comes stock with chain drive, and slightly higher travel suspension. Prior to 2015, I would have said the suspension and brakes are higher quality .. they may still be somewhat, but the gap has closed. I doubt the Redshift SM has ABS.
