And...Corbin Seat? 2012 Zero DS
« on: December 03, 2015, 12:04:27 PM »

I just bought it - it was a demonstrator for a dealer that gave up his franchise.  Came with a Corbin seat.

I didn't realize at the time that they came in two heights.  This one is almost-certainly the low one.  Now, I'm a tall guy.

I see Corbin doesn't make them; Zero does, to Corbin design (or Corbin gets a payment for the label, I don't know).  I also see Zero doesn't sell body parts on their website.

Is the seat gonna make that much difference?  I can't ride it until we have some sort of thaw, which could be weeks - or March.  On my brief time on it,

I had a low Corbin seat on my 2012 S.  It was as hard as a rock, but it still felt better than the stock seat.  My solution was to buy an Air Hawk seat cushion (the smallest one that they sell) and that made things both softer and higher.

Mike Corbin may still have some regular 2012 Zero saddles. I bought one last year from him. It's way better than the stock seat. The AirHawk is also a great solution and less expensive.

How would I get in contact with him?

The Airhawk:  Who sells it?

You can buy the Air Hawk seat cushion on Amazon.  Corbin runs a very large motorcycle seat factory in Hollister, CA. Any motorcycle accessory store will have a way to contact them.

I'm trying to sell my 2012 Zero DS on ebay. But if it doesn't sell, I may keep it for my son. In that case I'd be willing to swap seats with you as he is shorter and would benefit from a lower seat.

I like riding lower so I had the same low Zero/Corbin seat on my 2010 DS, my 2012 DS and it's on my 2013 FX now. I moved it from one bike to the next but I had to make some mounting bracket changes to fit the bikes later than the 2010 DS. Other than the hardness, which has already been mentioned, I don't like the slickness which makes me keep sliding forward when riding. The cover that has also been mentioned probably solves that problem too, but I haven't tried any covers.

Because I waited for two years for the delivery of my 2010 DS, Zero comped me the $500 (then) Corbin seat.  8)

I know this is an old tread, but maybe someone still have a lower Seat.
I have a 2012 xu and would like a lower Seat if it is affordable. I wrote Corbin, but They told me They did not have any.
I am from around Montreal, Canada
Thank you!

I could be wrong, but I THINK the XU uses the "motorcross" FX style seat.. so you could swap on the newer FX seat and it would be a couple inches lower.

Can anyone else confirm that for him?
