Our DMV in Nevada is similar, only, not as aggressive on lowering the taxable value. I purchased a 2014 Ford Focus Electric last year in California. They required me to have California registration on the car
to drive it away. I could have gotten a drive permit from DMV, but, transaction took place after business hours, and, I did not have time to wait until the next day. The original cost of the car was $40K. Two
price adjustments brought it to $33K, incentives and credits brought my out the door price to around $22K. I just got my renewal from California. $242. I checked with Nevada DMV. 2nd year of registration,
basically a two model year old vehicle would cost me over $700. They value it on MSRP, nothing to do with actual cost. My 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid registration has finally come down to under $200. My
2013 FX 5.7 ( officially 2.8 ) was just a bit over $200 when I renewed this year. On the other hand, my 1987 Grand National with a value of two to 3 times my Civic or FX is only $33. So, I guess if we wait
long enough.....
