I just saw that on ebay today.

These are very RARE and usually expensive. These ar ethe one that still can work with the DVT software you can download for free over the internet.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IXXAT-USB-to-CAN-compact-V-1-5-USB-interface-for-CAN-1-01-0087-10100-/111783906227?hash=item1a06d70bb3

used, only  150$.. more than 10 availlable!!!!

These are V1.5 so these are NOT isolated and require more care when connecting to the controller.  V1.6 are even more RARe but are isolated.

Get these asap if you want one, cause they don't make the old ones anymore (the ones that work with the DVT available online.

The new one only works with sevcon software that requires a key, and its a PITA to get.

Frodus, this version is compatible with the older version of the DVT, are you sure?

Send me a PM if you have the DVT!!!!

Thank you for the heads up, Doc.

Yes. Old ixxat cable works with old software. New ixxat only works with new software which requires a key. I have new software and new cable so it doesn't matter to me.....but these are the same cables I used to use.

I have decided to cross the line into Sevcon firmware modification now, so thanks for posting this!

Good Luck Brian, you will need patience!

I just finished rebuilding a DCF file for my 2012 75-7 + Size 6 controller and it seem to work fine...

I suggest using Winmerge to compare various DCF files and  understand the differences. Also having the Sevcon application note document help alot !!

Thanks for the "application note" suggestion.

I'm a Mac-using software developer with some firmware experience, so will be running Windows inside a virtual machine and will thankfully have a good set of tools to understand what's going on. If I'm really lucky, the DVT software is non-obfuscated C# and some of the logic will be extractable from what seems to be a terrible UI.

I know this has been mentioned on a few threads but not for a while. Is there a place to download the original DVT software.

Really none of you guys have or know where to find a copy of the DVT that isn't $900. I'd like to buy one of the those ixxat cables to run the Vectrix diagnostic on my VX2 but would like to know that the option to plug into the gen4 is there either on the scooter or any other bike project or production.

Often those people who go out and buy a 1.5 or 1.6 IXXAT cable (aka a gen 1 cable) will simply post up they are looking for a working copy of DVT and someone magically will PM them with the information. ;)

If you get a IXXAT cable make sure it is a first gen like DoctorBass posted or you will require a licensed copy of DVT to interface with any SEVCON GEN4 Controller and this requires you are a company not an individual ;)

That's why I posted on here. It's my understanding that the ones on eBay are the right cables but it's only worth buying if there is software available. I know that there are a lot of people who have done it and I highly doubt that they bought the ridiculously priced kit. The auction ends in five days and though the Vectrix software is easy to find and free I don't know if it's worth buying the ixxat for that alone. I appreciate your reply Burton, I'll wait and see if something pops up in the next five days.

By the way do the old cables or software run with the Gen4s that were sold after Sevcon instituted the license.

I honestly don't know but I do know my gen4 size 6 controller purchased in 2013/2014 works fine with my ancient version of DVT ;)

I can't see why this wouldn't be the case for newer firmware DVT's ... I have also been informed even post firmware update to support the IPM my version of DVT will still work so I would imagine it would.

You could email SEVCON and ask them something like this:
Quote
I have an older IXXAT cable and DVT software, if I buy a brand new Gen4 Controller an I use what I already have to interface with it?

provide as little information as possible ;)
