2013 FX for sale at dealer in GA $5370
« on: August 01, 2015, 08:58:49 PM »

I saw this listed at WOW Motorcycles in GA 2013 FX 5.7 98 miles for $5370. Phone is 770 424 8804. I don't know if its a "new" demo or used.  I know they had one for a while and they said that one (the bike  saw back in Nov) had the batteries replaced with 2014 models be sure and ask as this may be a different bike.  If this has any warranty left the price may be right for someone looking to get into a cheap FX.  I know these guys are shipping pros so nation wide no problem. Tell them Brian with the orange DS sent you and you saw it on the Elec forum. It may get some dealers to post here with good deals.

Brian,
Thanks for the heads up. I just put a deposit on it tonight with Mike.  He told me he was getting calls from New Zealand, UK and Ireland.

What makes you think that?  The FX batteries were unchanged from '13-'14.  On the Zero website it says the FX batteries work for 2013-2015 models.

IIRC the ZF2.8 module was indeed changed for 2014, and it is not compatible with 2013 bikes. I'm not sure if 2015/2014 modules and bikes are cross-compatible.

14 and 15 are compatible

The 13 is the stand alone as far as batteries go

Look where the contactor is on the 13fx vs. 14fx

I am double checking to make sure the two year factory warranty on the Bike and the Zero Motorcycle  battery warranty is for 5 years / 50,000 miles. I will call Zero tomorrow to check on Battery compatibility on the newer FX.   The VIN # is 538XX3Z11DCC02755.

Also the bike is not $5380 with all the dealer profit add ons its more like  $6257.

Dealer prep $200 what exactly do you prep on a vehicle that has no oil, no gas and and no moving engine parts or transmission?

Processing Fee $259 ? I am registering the vehicle out of state

Shipping $400 from ATL to IAD about 644 miles to ship a 289 pound bike seems excessive.  I just shipped a 2600 pound Miata from NY to DC and it was $400...

What is ETR $28

I will give them a call tomorrow, but I hate dealing with dealers - Never had any of this stuff added on when I bought my Tesla or when I ebaymotored the Miata....

The FX is shipped from Zero Motorcycles fully charged and ready to go per the owners manual:
First Time Set-Up
Insert the key in the key switch and turn the key to the ON position. The gauge will perform a self test sweep. The charge indicator should read fully charged.
Starting and Operating
If your motorcycle was direct-shipped you will need to perform the following: - This is what the dealer is charging $200 for:

1. Remove the motorcycle from its shipping crate. See Unpacking Your Zero Motorcycle on page 4-2.
2. You must charge the power pack before riding the motorcycle. Your Zero Motorcycle is shipped fully charged from the factory. If necessary, see “Charging the Power Pack”, on page 4-10.
3. Identify and inspect wheels for spoke tension and/ or damage.
4. Check the tire pressure and adjust to proper specifications. See “Tire Inflation”, on page 5-13.
5. Inspect the hydraulic brake system. Follow the hydraulic line from the reservoirs to the calipers and verify that there are no leaks or damage to the brake lines. Verify that the brakes function properly.
6. Make sure the motorcycle key switch is OFF, then twist the throttle to make sure its rotation is smooth, and it returns correctly.
7. Inspect bolts and make sure they are tight. See Bolt Torque Table on page 5-5. Double check the fork, wheel, and brake bolts.

I enquired about that bike too and was also given the special offer price $1000 dollars more than was posted in their advertisement and that did not include crating which was extra so better check! I just discovered I can ship a Zero FX from USA to UK for the same money as WOW's internal US delivery deal.
Wow  ;)

Dunno US trading law but that ad' would fail UK trading standards for being misleading. Neeless to say I walked away as you can't tell what other attempts at  hoodwinking have or will be tried. ::)

Ok spoke with Zero MC direct today here is what i found out:

1. The 2013 Battery is not compatible with 2014+ FX's and therefore not backwards compatible - which could create supply issues in the future
2. The 2013 Warranty does not cover the Power Pack (Battery) and it falls from the 5 year 50,000 mile deal on 2014+  to 2 years and unlimited miles on the 2013 model year for the FX
3. Got the Warranty data - see below
4. Other discoveries - No Showa Suspension (added in 2015)
5. Other surprises -  No ABS antilock brakes system (added in 2015)
6. Further - No Pirelli Scorpion MT 90 A/T Tires (added in 2015)
7. Also the display and light housings were redesigned with higher quality products (added in 2014)

Hi saw you talked with them on the bike and it sounds like your having some remorse.  I hope you aren't mad at this deal.  Let me just point out a few things.  First did you give Zero the Vin # and ask if it still had warranty?  That is the most important part.  If it is still covered then ride it see if there are any problems and get it made right by Zero.  Now I hate that you thought a 2013 was the same specs as a 2015 but if you google 2013FX the old stat page from Zero will come up and you can see all the specs.  I figured everybody on here knew the 2013 isn't as nice as the 2015 but this bike is 5k or 6k cheaper.  I have watched ebay, cycle trader,  dealer web pages for about two years on these bikes and this was the cheapest FX I have seen.  Most 2013s want 8k or more. If the bike is under warranty the batteries cost almost 3 grand a piece so even if they were bad and needed to be replaced that would be 6k worth of batteries making the rest of the bike "free".  I figured this would appeal to someone who just couldn't drop 11 or 12 grand on a 2015.  Go to You Tube and watch Zero FX vs KLR, watch some of the trail race videos watch that mountain ride video where he is popping wheelies at the top of the world. That was why I posted this ad and I hope you enjoy it and remember you got it for half the price that was paid for a new 2013.

New2elec  & Cortezdtv you are absolutely right on all counts.  This is still a smoking deal and yes it is under two year factory warranty.
I went forward with the deal for several reasons.
1. I always honor my commitments even though I made the wrong assumption that it was the same as a 2015 (on me - i should have done more research)
2. I can always modify the bike to upgrade it on the tire and suspension front later (none of my vehicles ever stay stock for long) - already plan to change out the headlight to a new LMZ LED Ultra Output 4500LM Headlight from vleds.com.  I have them on my FJ Cruiser and they are awesome!
3. The warranty is solid  with 2 years unlimited miles - I'm good with that.
4. I don't really need ABS on a trail bike.
4. Gives me chance to enjoy a wheelie machine and tool around in the woods without disturbing the neighbors and could be helpful for hunting season later in the year.
5. Adds to my stable of electric vehicles Mine: Telsa P85+ & now the 2013 Zero FX 5.7, Hers: Tesla P85 plus PEDEGO Interceptor, Daughters: PEDEGO Interceptor & Son: PEDEGO interceptor
6. My other consideration was the Stealth B-52 - which is a nice machine without a solid dealer network in my area.   Also I couldn't see my self paying $10K for an electric bike that i couldn't take on road.

I wired the remainder of the payment today - so I am hopeful I will have it by next weekend!

I'm all good - I'm glad you posted this and I happened to stumble across this website!!!! Thanks for being the voice of reason and for providing the original hook up!

Called WOW Motorcycles today - FX failed the PDI - something to do with the throttle - needs to have the motor replaced.   funny next time I will pay after PDI.... the fun continues.. If I didn't call and ask I would have never known.  Shipment Date is TBD based on part ordered from Zero.  Good news is I get a new motor, bad news is I don't know how long it will take to repair.

Ordered high speed charger on eBay - anyone know what connector type Zero uses on the FX?  I got this charger --http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Delta-Q-96-Volt-Onboard-Charger-Model-912-9600-/191658385978?hash=item2c9fbae23a&vxp=mtr
