Hi everyone.  At the end of April, I purchased a 2015 Zero SR.  It was great for the first 750 miles.  One day, the curcuit breaker tripped in my garage and the bike stopped charging.  I flipped the breaker and it started charging for a few minutes, then tripped the breaker again.  After that, it completely stopped charging, no matter where I tried to plug it in.  So back to the dealership it went...for 2 1/2 weeks!!! 

I got it home last night, rode it around for about 30 miles, then went home, plugged it in and saw it was charging.  This morning, I checked on it.  97%, that was strange.  I unplugged it, turned it on, and battery life went up to 100%.  Strange again, but no big deal.  So I rode for another 30 miles, went home, plugged it in, and guess what?  Nothing!  Now I've got to take it back to the dealership again (60 miles round trip).  I love the performance of the bike but am quickly becoming sorry I bought it. 

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Update, just dropped off the SR at the dealer.  I went into the sales department and told the manager about my problem.  There's a 2014 Zero S sitting in my garage now as a loaner bike.  It's alot easier to deal with problems like this when your garage isn't empty.  Thanks Haps!

I'm hearing increasingly regular reports of charging problems like this and indeed, had a similar problem on my 2014. Turned out to be a charger fault. Cause? Unknown. I suspect that the chargers being used just aren't reliable/robust enough, which is a real shame because they fit really well, look incredibly well sealed and the construction looks solid. Internally, who knows, but I'm starting to suspect that build quality is the problem

I received a phone call from the dealership, it was the shop manager.  He was very apologetic but made it clear that he was available any time I wanted to speak with him, and that repairing my bike was a priority.

What's your location? Hope it gets fixed soon, and I agree 2015 seem high report of charging issues. Looks like the glitch over again but for chargers.

I'm in the Sarasota area.  Hap's is the dealer, and they have been great. They called again today to say that the new charger is installed but they want to discharge and recharge the battery several times before I take it home on Friday.

They put about 80 miles on it, can't say I blame them.  It's charging in my garage now. 

I rode the 2014 Zero S to the dealer, and the difference between the two is amazing.  For starters, going there on the S, I went from 100% to 56%.  Coming back on the SR, I went from 100% to 70%.  The brakes on the S are terrible, the 2015 SR brakes are quite nice.  The sound emitted is much louder on the S, and the shocks are horrible on the S.  Also, the SR has a rather standard brake fluid reservoir, whereas the S has a wierd box with a window.  Really, the only thing I like better on the 2014 was the mirrors.  They were more angular and seemed to be more adjustable.

Hi there, just wondering how your Zero is doing now? I also have a 2015 Zero SR and yesterday I went to the garage and the breaker for the garage was blown. After reseting, the green charge light on the bike won't come on. The diagnostic codes don't show any problems either.

It's on its 4th charger now and there hasn't been a single problem with it since.  Except for the old lady who creamed it in a parking lot on February 5.  It's been at the dealership ever since.

I really hope Zero is watching this thread...the faulty/low quality charger business is becoming tiring -at least for me- as I'm getting a kind of "charge anxiety" every time I plug the bike for charging...

There are several forum members having faced this problem (and probably a few more we do not know), and after a few charger generations the issue is still on the table.

There are several forum members having faced this problem (and probably a few more we do not know), and after a few charger generations the issue is still on the table. 

I'm sure they know about the issue, considering all the warranty work they've been doing.  I finally got my bike back after it got hit in a parking lot, after 7 weeks.  Charger #4 is still going strong.  I used to get anxious about it, but I believe I finally got a good one.

My motorcycle did a verry similar thing. the breaker wasnt triped but i went to my bae and it wasnt charging. i turned it on and it showed 94% battery, turned it off and on again and it showed 100%. It isnt charging at all now.

After experience the same thing and by recommendation of this Forum, I always use a cheater plug now.  Not optimal, but it works.





Electric Terry says that he has had charging problems a lot have in a emergency he breaks of the ground of his charge cables.  He says that all of his charge cables have the grounds broken off now.
