Battery Case Waterproofing
« on: July 04, 2015, 09:18:40 PM »

I noticed that the the sealant around the edges of my battery case is pealing.  It's pretty dry in Vancouver right now so it's not a problem at the moment, but it won't be for very much longer...  How big of a deal would it be to ride it in the rain like that?  What kind of sealant would you recommend I reapply?  Should I completely scrape off the old one first?

Thanks,

I noticed this was happening to my battery box also. It was mildly concerning so I re-caulked all the seams. I picked off the old stuff and used black silicon caulk.

I'm sure any silicone non conductive silicone would work......
Zero uses clear Lexel so I would use that over anything else!

Unfortunately I couldn't find any Lexel around here (Vancouver, BC).  Any advice on which kind of caulk to use: Silicone, Latex, Polyurethane, Asphalt, Other?

Thanks

@Cortezdtv
Thanks a lot for the offer!  That's very kind of you.  I bought a tube of this Silicone based sealant for now.  I'll try it and report back here...  If it doesn't work, I might take you on your offer, or try to find a tube online that won't charge me too much for shipping...

Cheers!
